B4 — Restaurant in Unguja

Good music. But I don’t know how this place makes money: the cashier is extremely slow, and seems as if she is in way above her paygrade. Long wait, then it takes minutes to place your drink order and pay for it. She casually tries to ring up more drinks than what you’ve ordered. Then you get a slip with the drinks you ordered and stand in another line to have the bartender dude mix your drink. After another endless wait, he casually tries to give you fewer drinks than what you’d ordered and is stated on the slip. In between making a drink, he then argues a bit with the cashier. Owner/manager guy watches this whole performance and does nothing. I got multiple rounds of drinks and this was the process every time. This is my second time in Paje and so disappointed because I loved this place previously. Menu used to be simple and wholesome with delectable burgers and great atmosphere. Sadly after 3 attempts this round I still haven't ordered any food, giving up after 1 beer. Vibe just isn't the same with pretty mediocre house music blasted at top volume at any time of day, so not really a chilled atmosphere to just enjoy a good meal or have a conversation with your mates. I'm sure the food is still great, I just couldn't stick around...

They hold beach dance parties here in the evenings.

Coincidentally, this place was also marked as having the best food nearby. I ordered a burger, salad, drinks, and I think something else. The food was ordinary, of acceptable quality, and I was satisfied.

It was late in the evening, people were partying and dancing near the DJ booth. By the way, there wasn’t much space for this. It was hard to reach the order window...
