Please do be careful when going to this restaurant. We had made a booking two weeks ago, having seen the website and menu online. That menu was in Tanzanian shillings, however, upon being seated, the menu we were offered was in USD, with the prices significantly higher than what was on their online menu. When querying this, our waiter pretended to call the manager and said firstly that the manager was unreachable and secondly, that the chef had gone to pray, and so they would not be able to come talk to us regarding this discrepancy.
The online menu now has been updated on their website in USD prices. All the dishes we ordered on the current menu are priced at $15 online, however, we were charged $20 per dish at the restaurant, and then offered an $8 discount on the overall bill.
The food was not fresh - we sent back a coconut water as it had gone off, the hummus we ordered was grainy, and the gnocchi was very dry. Please do be very careful when going to this restaurant. Check and double check that the food is fresh, and also check the menu and prices before...
Read moreBeware scammers. They made me pay twice with pin.
The first time pinning they did not give me the receipt and pretended that the pin did not work. They made me pay again. Luckily I checked my bank account, because I did not receive a receipt with error message. I had paid twice. I then asked for the previous receipt they didn't give. This one also said approved. So they had two receipt with approved, but initially didn't give the first. After complaining they made me wait and wait before giving back money. They use pin in usd and wanted to give me shilling back in a a bad rate from usd to tsh, because "that's the rate we use" . When you pay cash in Tsh it's cheaper, but they wanted to pay me back with the same rate: Instead of 86.000. They tried giving me back 80.000 untill we got mad and finally got it back in dollars. It's low season, and I expect this is how they try to make some extra money. They didn't even apologize. The food was nice, but this scam left a...
Read moreA plethora of things that went wrong during our stay The rooms didnt have enough power for A/C and there was only a trickle of water out the defunct shower. There’s a massive non functioning generator. Not enough voltage for a hairdryer even if you manage to wash your hair in the shower. Phones charge really slow as well. We asked for towels and the towels we received were wet and mouldy smelling with stains all over them. The breakfast options are quite limited, the service is incredibly slow - its not a buffet you pick from a very limited alacarte menu The “private beach access” is not really private as there are quite a few locals and maasai who would follow us asking to sell things, didnt feel as secluded as we would’ve wished for it to be
But the Pro’s the view from the room is stunning, the sunrise and sunset are unbeatable, the beach only a few steps away from...
