1 star for having a really cute cafe on the 1st floor, great cafe vibe and the 2nd star for super cute and fluffy cats.
However food is too expensive for the quality. All I asked for was a simple mango smoothie and it was basically slushed sugar water, with a hint of mango. Took 3 sips and trashed the drink. My significant other bought a passion fruit drink and it was the same deal. We headed up to the 2nd floor and the employee told us right away to sit down when we barely got to see a cat. It was a small area and there was already 8 other people in the room.
The cats looked stressed out whenever we slightly touched one. All of them seemed to be overfed because you can buy a cup of treats for 20 baht. With 10 people feeding them at one time, all cats expected treats to be placed right next to them. The employee lady watching the cats did not interact with us (I understand we don't speak much Thai and vice versa) but when she did talk to us, it was to scold us for feeding incorrectly or simply warn us that cats "bite and scratch" when you touch them. We know they do that. We own 3 cats ourselves.
I can't fault the cats for being so miserable only the humans involved, thus the 2nd star. And I still appreciate the effort they took to keeping the separate cafe area clean and cute. I would also like to plug in that the cat area upstairs smelled a bit too much like cats. We had visited a different cat cafe just yesterday in Chiang Mai and they kept their cat area odorless because it was also a shared cafe area.
I would recommend looking around for the other 2 cat cafes in the area before coming here and also give the cats some time away...
Read moreThis is the worst 'cat cafe' I have ever visited. We placed our order with a non English speaking (not a problem) staff member. We then took our coffees up to the first floor where the cats were. The entrance was very small with an assistant on the other side of the door. I put my coffee on the very small shelf to apply the alcohol hand gel. As she opened the door a cat tried to escape, she grabbed it around the waist and slid it across the floor. I entered the room only for her to stop my partner from entering as he could not remove his shoes as he has a disability. This was very embarrassing for him but he was eventually allowed in to then be told to put carrier bags over his shoes to walk on a laminated floor... Not ideal. My partners food order arrived shortly afterwards, mine arrived just as we were going to leave. The cats all looked in good condition but some had strange hair styles (see photo). The cats appeared very stressed, attacking each other and were very scared of the assistant. I rolled up a paper napkin for a cat to play with as there was no stimulating toys available. The cat was playing with his new toy but it was quickly removed by the assistant. A lot of the male cats appeared un-neutered which would explain some of the aggressive behaviour. Sadly, this is one place I will not go back to. I think the owners have a lot to learn about keeping cats and should focus on this rather than...
Read moreI had a great time at Cat Brothers Cafe! This is a really well-organized space with a fantastic concept - a cat cafe where the cats are well taken care of and always supervised by a staff member. The entrance fee of 120 baht is a fair price, and it includes a drink. You can also buy treats to feed the cats, which is a lot of fun.
The cafe is clean and comfortable, and there are plenty of places to sit and relax while you enjoy the company of the cats. The cats are friendly and playful, and it's clear that they are very well-cared for. The staff member supervising the cats and visitors is always on hand to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
I also appreciated the fact that the cafe is well-ventilated and doesn't smell like a typical animal cafe. It's clear that the owners have taken great care to create a space that is comfortable for both the cats and the visitors.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cat Brothers Cafe to anyone who loves cats or just wants to have a fun and unique experience while in Chiang Mai. It's a well-organized and well-managed space that is a...
