Flips & Flips Homemade Donuts — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I don't know what the big deal is about this place—enough so that you'll need to wait 15–20 minutes to get your donuts after ordering them—if they have any donuts left as they run out by midday. They may even run out between the time you order and the time they attempt to fill your order!

The donuts look good in the display, but they cost literally over 4 TIMES as much as the donut shop literally right around the corner on Morakot Rd. They're fresh donuts, like all donuts you'll find in town. Do they taste four times better? In my opinion, not even close.

They are very nice in the tiny shop for sure, it's a cute place to sit and have a coffee and donut. But if you buy your donuts for take-away, each donut preciously gets it's own bag, which you'll discover the toping completely sticks to and you'll lose half of the best part of the donut to the bag. I think with five donuts you get a box.

Due to its late 11am opening time, Flips was our last stop on a self-guided 3-shop donut tour around Chiang Mai this morning. The doughnut itself was the best of the three shops, having a slightly crisp exterior that was perfect. The topping options had the most variety of the three shops, and the strawberry jam, lemon cheesecake, and blueberry flavors we tried were all delicious. My son tried the peanut butter donut and decided those two things aren't a good match, but that's personal preference, not the donuts fault ha ha. The presentation on the tray with decorative items was tops as well. Overall Flips was my favorite of the three shops we tried today if you're looking for the best donut, but their more limited seating and hours means they are not set up as well if you want to sit and work or relax for a longer time. If that's what you need, Vanessa Dough did get good marks for having plentiful indoor seating with AC, savory food options, and nicer overall atmosphere. Very homey atmosphere with super friendly staffs.

I havent tried donuts because they re sold out since 11am. I was here almost 4pm and the staff walked up to us and told us to take our time as we would like to. No need to rush (its closed at 4pm)

Also ordered matcha latte and matcha dirty. Despite its fade colour, matcha latte surprisingly is very floral-fragranceful which makes you feel relaxed like a kid enjoying sunlight in the middle of the flower field.

After trying matcha latte, I expect that dirty wouldnt be really nice because for me its matcha shot is supposed to be very strong. However, matcha latte flavour is different. It’s very ‘green’ , intense in flavour and strong which is exactly my cup of tea. I think they use different leaves for each menu which is beyond my expectation because of their small size of store.
