I came here with my family.
You walk in from the quaint, beautiful street into … what seems like a caravan. There are ribbons and lights hanging from the ceiling, and spin and dance as the music plays, and you hear sounds of tropical birds as you bathe in the balmy summer air.
You pass by some ornate rugs and choose a cozy table.
The restaurant is not huge, but it’s very cozy and quaint. And it smells amazing.
We shared everything. We ordered the delicious tomato salad, uzbek pilaf (aromatic rice with meat), cheburek (pastry filled with beef and onions), grilled chicken skewer, and a meat soup (I’ve forgotten the name, apologies).
But! You don’t need to remember the name of anything I just listed, because anything you order will be delicious. I was overwhelmed (in a good way) by all the flavours, the care from the service staff, and the nostalgia (my cheburek and kvass in hand tasted exactly like childhood).
I think this is my favourite restaurant in Phuket.
Please do not miss this gem in Bang Tao. Where a smorgasbord of cultured gathered around in a beautifully designed shopping destination to share their rich culinary and cultural heritage with the beautiful island of Phuket.
If Phuket is the pearl of the andaman sea, the caravan is a jewel in Phuket’s multicultural adornment.
Thank you, staff at...
Read moreFood was excellent. The pilaf/plov is great, with succulent meat and well cooked rice. Go for the full portion if you have 2 or more people and not eating too much of other dishes. Well worth it. Do specify if you want more beef or lamb in the dish. The staff didn't tell us there was such an option.
The skewers were pretty big and the meat was juicy (we had lamb and chicken). A bit ambivalent about the vegetable skewer that came with each meat skewer, but it's ok.
Most of the dishes are pure beef based including the soup shurpa so we gave them a miss. I'd suspect they'd taste really good.
The sauces that came with the dishes were excellent as well.
Environment is open air and quaint. Very clean but can't do much about the flies i suppose. They did employ a lot of mist fans to cool the place and it works remarkably well.
Plenty of parking nearby, though at peak hours I'd think it would...
Read moreThese are not real posts. Because the service was miserable. How did this guy find the only miserable Thai people in Phuket? The kebabs were pre cooked and brought out frozen before being put on a charcoal grill, which they heated with a hairdryer like object. It was dry and flavourless. The sauce which came with it was good. The Manky dumping was decent, light dumpling but overpowered by onions. The pelmini were very good. The only thing I found edible. Thoroughly disappointing. Real Street food is made fresh. Yuck and finding a terrible meal in Thailand takes effort. Shame as I love all exotic foods. To be fair, I didn't have the pilau. This was maybe the mistake. Go to Tbilisi. The food there was excellent if you are looking for something from one of...
