My family and I ate at this restaurant on February 7, 2018. It was our last dinner in Phuket before returning home. What a shame for us we did not try this place sooner. From the street, it does not appear to be anything special. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the automatic sliding doors. The ambiance is beautiful, modern and relaxing. The air conditioning was a perfect temperature. Not too cold, just comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the wine list. Unlike most restaurants, the wine is in a tiny much cooler room. You look through the shelves to see what may interest you. The prices listed are clear and priced to accommodate most budgets, including if you don't have one....: ). You select the wines you would like and bring them to the table. Your waiter will then go to the back and bring out fresh bottles. It was certainly a fun and different experience for me. We were a large group (about 17 of us) and they were fortunately able to seat us without a reservation. The food was excellent. I also appreciated that the menu was typical Italian style. The service was friendly yet professional. If I ever get back to Phuket, this place will most definitely be on my list for dinner again. BTW, our group at dinner was a mix of SEVERAL ethnicities (white, black, brown Asian), we did not...
Read moreWe were given the best table in the restaurant which was in the corner next to the lake. A perfect view of sunset and 3 courses each (6 courses in total) for 2000 baht. This was a promotion in found on Hungry Hub! You’ll be given a menu with instructions (how many dishes to choose from whichever section).
Caesar salad Lamb ravioli with four cheeses Milanese Chicken Seafood spaghetti Lamb shank Grandmother’s meatballs
The whole experience was spectacular and the food was top quality. We also received free desserts (meringue and chocolate balls) since all our courses were savory. We could’ve easily swapped 1 or 2 for dessert but we wanted to enjoy the main courses and the authenticity of Bocconcino.
The staff were very attentive and well-humoured, the owner was also very welcoming and down to earth. There is an indoor or outdoor seating area depending on your preference of ambience, though if you choose to sit outside there are some mosquitos. Kindly ask the staff and they will bring a fan to you.
There is classy dining experience available on Bocconcino’s boat, I’m not sure if punting will be involved but there is a table and chairs ready for...
Read moreWhile the food is good, it is very unfortunate that the chef has a terrible attitude. Perhaps he was having a bad day.
We had ordered a linguine vongole and found the dish to be a lot saltier than we’d like it to be. When we asked the chef if anything could be done, he threw the question back at us and asked what we’d have him do. Apparently, he had added no salt to the dish and the saltiness was purely coming from the clams and the water they were cooked in (“clam water”). He added that the dish is supposed to be that salty. His arrogant tone did not help either.
While I understand every chef has his/her interpretation and style of the dishes prepared at the restaurant, I felt that putting the customer on spot to figure out a solution was immature and rude. I would have suggested that this chef try to make his ‘clam water” less saltier in the first place, but I’d be wasting my breath.
In summary, good food, salty linguine vongole and an even...
