Our expat friends who live in Phuket suggested that we head to Daily Dose for a late breakfast. We've been to one of the other groups' restaurants in the past and have always had enjoyable meals. On this particular morning, we were a little let down.
The restaurant was empty when we arrived, which can be a red flag, but given that it was late morning, we were forgiving. The menu is very big and specials were also available. I started with a Beat It Up fresh fruit juice. It was outstanding! Sweet, tart, and cold. A great pick me up. My Big Breakfast, consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, and croissant, was not as good. The eggs were nicely prepared, and the croissant was big, fluffy, and uber flaky. The sausage was plump and hot. The other elements to my brekky felt warmed over and seemed like an afterthought. My wife had a similar complaint about her truffled mushrooms over avocado smash. It did not look or taste freshly prepared. The meal left me full but unfulfilled. I decided that
I would try the blueberry tart to wrap up my brunch. This was an excellent choice. The custard was cool, sweet, and creamy. The blueberries were plump, dark, and sweet. The crust, flaky crisp and light. This was redemptive!
In all, the meal was a bit hit-n-miss. Some parts are great while others represent low points. It is possible that your experience will be different from mine. The other folks who came and left while we were there did not appear to be disappointed. So maybe it boils down to having expectations rather than simply choosing a restaurant at...
Read moreHow was Daily Dose Sandwiches??? It was excellent. Don't be fooled by the small set-up. This place is full of deliciousness. The name is spot on, when you walk out, you want to come back the next day for your next dose of tasty food. We had the daily suggestion, pool pork burger and the soft-shell crab. Presentation is simple and honest, service fast and efficient and the food, the food...was delicious. All ingredients were super fresh, accompanied with a subtle little sauce on the side... Crunchy salad, velvety soft bun, juicy pool pork that melts in your mouth. Equally delicious was the soft-shell crab... Deep fried to a crispy mouth-full of flavour, comfortable served on top of a bed of green spring salad... I will be back and judging from a most friendly host/owner and and an already packed facebook event page, this place will keep surprising us... Join in but keep it down a bit, seating is quite limited so I want to make sure I have my seat for my next Daily Dose of Daily Dose Sandwiches... PS: have the ice-cream filled croissant on a Sunday, as calories don't count on Sunday... Today is Saturday, so see...
Read moreWe had breakfast/brunch there today. It was excellent. They’ve added items to the menu.
Khun Suching and his staff gave us the usual friendly welcome. The space has been reduced as next door wanted the land, but that hasn’t affected it much. I had poached eggs with smoked salmon on avocado toast. Splendid. Don’t need to eat for a week. My wife had the pancakes which were delicious. The coffee is exceptional. We love the place as Life goes on about you. Service is as usual - super.
I wrote the following review ages ago - above is an update.
It was very busy which says something. Khun Ray and Khun Apun looked after us cheerfully, efficiently and with the usual super Thai welcoming and friendliness. The menu is very good - lots of choices. Coffee came hot and it was pretty good. We both had the poached eggs on a croissant with smoked salmon. It was excellent. A very pleasant experience and we’ll be back for sure. Only one drawback - it’s very small so one is obliged to eat outside. In rainy or very hot weather this might not...
