Aja Bistro & Bar is a fantastic addition to Phuket’s dining scene, located in a prime spot at the entrance of Boat Avenue with convenient parking right in front. The space is chic and modern, blending cosmopolitan sophistication with a touch of tropical charm.

The menu, crafted by the talented Chef Jamie Wakeford, offers a seasonal selection of dishes that elevate classic bistro fare with innovative twists. My highlights were the Parfait on Toast, where the smooth chicken liver parfait was perfectly balanced with tangy orange marmalade and the crunch of nuts and crispy chicken skin. The Pumpkin Soup was an absolute standout—rich and creamy Japanese pumpkin paired with ricotta-filled tortellini and a flavorful chili crunch oil. Easily the best I’ve ever had! For mains, the Trevally Fish was cooked to perfection, with crispy skin and a buttery caviar sauce complemented by a bright spinach salad. And for dessert, the Phuket Mess delivered a refreshing medley of roasted pineapple, mango sorbet, lime, coconut jelly, and meringue—a perfect tropical finish.

The drink menu is just as impressive, featuring a curated selection of natural wines and creative cocktails. I started with a Domaine Piñon Vouvray sparkling wine and ended with a refreshing gin-based cocktail made with fresh orange reduction—delicious!

Aja is perfect for any occasion, from intimate dinners to late-night cocktails (don’t miss their THB 200 cocktail specials after 9 PM on weekends). Their Steak Night on Thursdays is also a must-try!

We chose this restaurant because of its high rating, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. It began with the restroom, where the water drained poorly, mosquitoes were biting, and overall cleanliness left much to be desired.

The food was far from tasty. We came specifically for steaks, only to find out they didn’t have beef available. The kids didn’t enjoy their burger, and the children’s Bolognese was also subpar. My salad with avocado seemed incomplete, and my husband had to redo his mashed potatoes himself because they were so poorly prepared.
