You would be stupid not to book a room here. The rooms are extremely clean and spacious. They have everything you need to make a couple of cups of tea each morning, which was not an option at all the other 4 hotels we stayed at. The staff were extremely amicable. I was blown away by the outstanding services of the owner, Maurice. To begin with, we arrived at 3am, after the bar had closed. We had to call Maurice personally and most likely woke him up. He was all smiles as he greeted us and helped us to our room. The bed was comfy and enabled us to get a good night’s sleep. The food here is much better quality compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. I am a UK/US citizen and melted when I ate the Sunday roast. Pure heaven! Great bangers and mash too! Thai sausages are basically hot dogs (weiners), unlike the ones here. You would think that having a room above an Irish pub would be noisy. We were on the 4th floor and hardly heard any noise. It’s a 5 minute walk from the beach, it’s in a great location. We were island hopping for the following 2 weeks and without hesitation Maurice said he would look after 3 suitcases for us so we could travel lighter. They play great music and you can often watch soccer, rugby, horse racing and other various broadcasts on a big screen. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about...

Since the owner, Maurice's tragic passing last year this place has gone to pot. Once the hub of activity on the crescent surrounding Centara, it's now completely dead. The food is dreadful and takes forever to arrive and the atmosphere has completely vanished. People take one look then vanish again. That warm and welcoming vibe it had has gone; replaced with this feeling that the staff are only there for the wage and can't wait for closing time. Whoever has taken it over, clearly has no interest in the place. It just sits there now, open but empty. There's a tiny bar next door, James' Bar, with two tables and about eight seats. That gets more customers now! That's how bad things have become. It truly is such a shame to see such an iconic pub go to the wall like this, but...

Awful experience! Booked to stay in the guesthouse for a couple of days, deposit was paid and everything was confirmed via email for our arrival only to arrive and be told are room was not allocated and there was no space for us to stay! The staff obviously didn’t care and it took a few times complaining to finally be able to speak to the owner who also didn’t care. The story for why our booking wasn’t confirmed changed several times and eventually gave up with trying to resolve the issue and left to another hotel where we had a lovely time.
