Da Mario Karon — Restaurant in Karon

I felt the need to change this review from a 5 star to a 1 after nearly dying from food poisoning after consuming their badly reheated rice which I’ll attach a picture of. This rice came warm and not piping hot after less than 5 mins wait which of course means it was reheated but not to an adequate standard, we didn’t think anything of it as it was a restaurant and the owner even said everything is fresh so we assumed it was just cooked and maybe someone else ordered rice too so they made too much and this was the left over from a min ago. Little did we know this was the worst mistake ever which was getting sweet and sour chicken with rice from an Italian restaurant. We touched down in England 22 hours later after this meal and got rushed to hospital 2 hours after touchdown as we got the worst food poisoning reaction in our lives. And we know it is from this meal as the doctor said it was from a rice toxin eaten around 24 hours before symptoms started and this was the only rice we ate that whole day and it was exactly 24 hours after this meal. Thank god this didn’t hit us during the flight or when we drove home. Otherwise we would have not gotten home costing us thousands.

We are still recovering 3 days later and have missed days of work just because someone didn’t put a dish in a microwave or cook it from scratch properly.

10/10 Italian food but stay away from anything else that could be reheated. Quick service and very reasonable prices too. Great Italian stuff honestly. But the near death experience makes me want to say, stay away from the non Italian items which might be reheated and not cooked...

We called in to Da Mario Karon on a rainy Phuket afternoon and were not disappointed with our decision. The restaurant is situated right across from the beach and regardless of the rain we still appreciated the beauty of the beach and sea beyond. The restaurant itself has a very cosy, authentic Italian feel about it. Both Western and Thai foods are on the menu. We opted for spaghetti carbonara and a large pizza, half ham and pineapple the other half spicy salami, along with a serving of fries. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was deliciously creamy. The pizza was excellent, one of the best we had in a while. Whilst waiting for the rain to go away we had a few cold Singha beers. The two hours plus we spent in Da Mario was very enjoyable with very attentive, but not overbearing, staff taking good care of us. Our bill came to around 1,000 baht which we considered excellent value, factoring in the quality of food and beach front location. Will definitely return on our next trip to Phuket, we highly recommend Da...

We came to have a lunch after beach, and severs started to give an attitude from the beginning. First we have been waiting for a while for the server to come, then she told they don’t have an aperol cocktail, only the bottle, which doesn’t make sense and walked away, so we had to get another server’s attention. Second one told that they finally have aperol cocktail, but it came in the size of twice smaller than regular. We also ordered deserts, and they brought deserts first, which also doesn’t make sense cuz we didn’t have our meal yet!!! When I told her that I don’t want my ice cream now, I would rather wait she told me something that I didn’t catch and walked away. The worst service I have ever experienced.
