Mala Dim Sum — Restaurant in Karon

Delicious affordable food in Phuket, nice staff and clean shop.

They offer a wide variety of dim sum aswell as different rice dishes and egg dishes (on toast if you please). We always got a nice pot of jasmine tea and if you order a rice dish you get a clear soup (included in price).

On average we've spend between 160 (only rice dishes) and 365 baht (rice dish and dim sum) for 2 persons including drinks.

We ate here multiple times because it is one of the more affordable places around Kata, but only open from 6am to 1 pm (the time we were there, februari 2025). Near a main road, so can be a bit noisy at times, but did not bother us.

This is my 3rd visit. The food is just great; there are many choices like Chinese dumplings, Vietnamese breakfast, western style breakfast, Thai southern dishes, etc.

I had so much fun choosing different dim sum from the fridge! They only serve breakfast to brunch. I just realised that Chinese dumplings are only served in the morning. I have to admit that it’s not the healthiest breakfast you can have but hey...on holiday like this, just enjoy it! 😆

Service was friendly, English speaking waiters. Atmosphere - interior was nice, alot of fans to keep cool but the noise from the main road (and dust too I’m sure) was very loud as its off the main road. Food - the dimsum is / tasted like frozen dimsum :( mama Mee tasted like instant noodles. The Phuket noodles was average. Enjoyed the free flow pandan tea. The bao was dry. Salted egg bun only had the top part with filling :( quite disappointed. Happy with the service and the interior of the restaurant . Total spent baht...
