The worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I was seated at a table but asked to move to another, which was supposedly “reserved.” However, throughout my entire time there, none of those tables were occupied, and even one couple left without being seated.
The waitress who served me spoke limited English. She explained a 299 THB dining option and repeatedly assured me it was inclusive of my meal price, not additional. Trusting her, I ordered food under that plan, which turned out to be mediocre at best. The atmosphere was bizarre for a Japanese restaurant—nightclub-style English hits blaring in the background, making the setting feel anything but authentic. On top of that, the staff stared at me while I ate, making me extremely uncomfortable. The manager even started dancing in front of me, which was shocking and inappropriate.
When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see that the 299 THB had been added to my meal. I raised the issue, only to be told the waitress had made a mistake because of her poor English. The manager, “Tik,” was unhelpful and laughed when I questioned why someone who couldn’t explain the pricing was tasked with taking orders. When I insisted on not paying for the misleading charges and undrinkable “fresh” tea, Tik threatened to call the police. I welcomed her to do so—especially English-speaking officers—and suddenly, she backed down and gave me the revised bill.
Shortly after leaving, I suffered from food poisoning, further confirming my regret for dining here. To add to it, even the miso soup, which was claimed to be “fresh,” was clearly not.

Read moreVery strange marketing strategy, low price, but kept the traffic low as well. Kinda like a timed buffet thing, where you pay one price to start you on a cheap journey, then you are able to order things at a lower price, but your time is limited to 2-hours. Took my family out to find a new izakaya. What comes with the low price is the low quality of food. Sushi, sashimi, fried dishes, and even grilled, were all of poor quality. The worst was the tako karaage, fried octopus, made me think I was chewing on a rubber tire. It must have been cooked like 3 days before and left out cold. The next worst thing was, something I always like to order anywhere else, is umaki, fried egg with grilled eel. This also felt like it was made days before. The staff service was okay as they were not so friendly. Felt like they didn't even wanna be there. The atmosphere of the place just made me wanna leave. We were all done in 40 minutes. Didn't wanna stay any longer. I'm surprised that they even lasted this long. Maybe they should have the manager go out and see what other izakayas are doing. The place close to them, Nagiya, is way much better. Time certainly flies everytime I go there. So if you're on Thonglor looking for a nice izakaya to enjoy, go to Nagiya. At Takara, you will certainly be...
Read moreWhat a rip off. I had the worst experience of a restaurant in Thailand at Takara - It was not explained that there is an entrance PLUS 2 levels of pricing- all that was explained if you spend 299 baht , special prices to that total are available , otherwise pay the normal alacart price at higher level , it was not that explained that the 299 baht is the entrance fee - plus it was not explained not written anywhere that take away dishes are charged at the higher price
The manager was conveniently absent and after stubborn denial from the waitress staff that the fine print and incomplete information on the last page was not shown to me , I was threatened that they would call the police / something that has not happened to me in Thailand in 20 years of residence
The signs at the front of the restaurant re their pricing are misleading
I am appalled in the manner that my visit and initial delight in the menu was handled and would clearly warn other potential visitors to stay away from...
