I think this restaurant is more like Thai food stalls rather than Chinese restaurant. I think the food was pretty good. I ordered Hainanese chicken rice and grilled chicken. Both only costed 90 THB, very cheap! The place was also pretty nice. It didn't feel that hot since there were so many fans running. However, it seemed pretty chaos and a bit noisy.
Nevertheless, I don't understand how to order from this restaurant. Initially I ordered the chicken rice directly to the food stall and the staff there told me to go to cashier. At that time, I thought I need to buy a "cash coupon" to order, so I bought 50 THB coupon and went back to the stall again. Then he collected my order and took my cash coupon, and told me to sit down. Couple of minutes after, another staff came to deliver my order, with that 50 THB coupon. What I thought was incorrect: it is not a coupon, but it is more like a "coupon bill", which you need to pay after finished your food. I complained since I already paid before ordering, and they listened to me and I didn't need to pay again. I guess the correct way to order is just sit down and ask the menu, then order directly...
Read moreNo Peking duck. Dont be fooled by the menu. The restaurant takes the duck and cooks it into something else before serving. I have never been so disappointed. This is not even a chinese restaurant! They dont serve hot tea, none of the staff speaks chinese, and the duck they serve tastes and looks nothing like how Peking duck is meant to be eaten.
I cannot say this is entirely the fault of the restaurant. This is just a Thai restaurant that did not understand how it's supposed to be made. And of course, cant trust the reviews of, no offense, caucasians that claims this is the best "peking duck" restaurant that they've ever had, because they do not understand either.
The duck was poorly made and could not fit onto the pancake. The sauce is too sticky and not even the right type of sauce. Theres no duck meat! How does that bear any semblance to the real thing?
Anyways. If you decide to go, thinking you would find some resemblance of chinese food or Peking style duck, good luck, because it will only...
Read moreOld school budget Chinese restaurant – open-front with fans above the tables. Lot of options. No worries if you’re a tourist because the menu has English and big photos for every item.
Inexpensive and delicious. Hawker-style dishes about 60-120B each. It’s great value for this area and being right on Sukh by the station.
Service is good and not rude or make you feeling rushed.
They also sell some snacks and fruit outside, e.g., fruit which you can take in to the cashier at front. Good to take some things home when you go to pay.
No hot tea available – cold drinks only.
To clarify some confusion in reviews about how it works. Entry is normal. Find a table, request a menu and order. The only unusual thing is they give you cards each time a dish is served. The cards show the price of that dish. Take the cards to the cashier in the front. She’ll sum them and tell you...
