If you're craving authentic, flavorful ramen in Bangkok, Bankara Ramen at ICONSIAM is a spot you shouldn't miss. I tried three different dishes during my visit today, and each one was absolutely worth it.
🍜 1. Kakuni Bankara Ramen (Signature Dish) This is the highlight of the meal — rich, savory tonkotsu broth with just the right balance of saltiness and fat for the Thai palate. The noodles were perfectly cooked, springy and satisfying. The star of the bowl, though, was the kakuni — a large, slow-braised pork belly that was melt-in-your-mouth tender and far more flavorful than the usual chashu.
🔥 2. Special Tonkotsu Ramen (New Menu Item) This one came with a deep, aromatic pork bone broth enhanced by garlic oil. The garlic flavor wasn’t overpowering — instead, it added depth that paired beautifully with the thin noodles. A great new addition that I’d definitely order again.
🍜 3. Tsukemen (Dipping Ramen) This has always been my personal favorite here. I ordered the special thick noodles, and they were as good as ever — chewy, soft, and satisfying. The dipping sauce was packed with umami, so good that I caught myself sipping it straight (oops!). It came with a small piece of chashu, which wasn’t the highlight, but the joy of dipping made up for everything.
👨🍳 Service & Atmosphere The staff were polite and attentive. The upstairs seating area has larger tables, which is great for groups. Just a small note: the spiral staircase to the second floor might be tricky for elderly guests.
💡 Final Thoughts Bankara Ramen has become my go-to spot every time I crave ramen in Bangkok. The quality, consistency, and depth of flavor keep bringing me back. If you're near ICONSIAM, don't miss this place — your ramen cravings...

Came on a weekday night and there was no queue. The main seating area was on the second floor.
Felt greedy and ordered a number of dishes, firstly their popular item which is the bankara ramen topped with ramen egg, followed by gyoza and spicy nanban chicken, and washed it down with iced barley.
Everything was superb. The ramen was surprisingly packed with ingredients and super value for money. There was a big slab of braised pork belly as well as 2 well charred pieces of cha siu, with the usual seaweed, bamboo shoots and green spring onions. And yes that’s a lot of fats floating on top. It looks very daunting but the taste is great. Ramen wasn’t exactly my favorite type, I definitely prefer the ichiran style type of ramen noodles, this one was more eggy and bouncy.
The side dishes were great as well, gyoza was crispy and had a nice broth on the inside. Chicken nanban was packed with flavor, great batter and delicious nanban, I did think it could be slightly thicker though as this one was almost like a sauce consistency. The drink although something not worth mentioning was weird. I was clearly served a green tea as it was dark green/brown and transparent color but when I asked 2 different waitress is this ice barley they confirmed it is. Perhaps language barrier and they were just agreeing to whatever I said.
Overall very satisfied with this hearty meal, damage was around 750 baht...
Read moreIf you crave for powerful, strong ramen like Jiro style then look no further, go for Kakuni bankara ramen. The broth is rich, fatty, porky, salty, garlicky (yes, you gotta add grated fresh garlic to increased intensity flavor). I end up pureed about 7 garlic cloves to my ramen, no regret. But you can request for less fat, saltiness which I rather not.
Chashu is decent, thick bamboo shoots provide crunchy texture which I absolutely love. 3-days braised pork belly (kakuni) definitely the superstar topping. I’m personally not a fan of overly fatty pork but this kakuni marinated perfectly also insanely tender, sweet savory, it’s simply very easy to eat.
If you have big appetite like I am. Bankara ramen also offer delicious side dishes. I highly recommend Karaage fried chicken which cooked to perfection every time. Add some white pepper and drizzle of lime juice, it’s so tasty that you will clear the plate in minutes even if you’re already full.
Service is fine, price a tad high for ramen. Of course, you have to deal with inevitable 7% VAT + 10% service charge. I called it the...
