Yesterday evening I wanted to have dinner at Fallabella with another person. So around 18.00, we went there and it was full. OK, no problem. We accepted to be put on the waiting list.
But we did not want to wait inside, standing in front of the door for the projected 60 to 90 minutes, with no place to sit or drink something. We wanted to walk around at Icon Siam or sit in a café instead. So I offered to the young lady taking reservations to call or text us when the queue would be short enough to expect a vacant table in the next 10 minutes or so. She refused to note my phone number or scan my LINE code. She completely ignored my question and talked to other guests, simply saying "I am busy". Too busy for a guest who she just put on the waiting list and who was not finished talking to her yet?!? I also asked why an expensive restaurant like Fallabella does not use an electronic queue system like the QueQ app, which is used by so many restaurants and even some government offices nowadays in Thailand. She also ignored the question.
So we refused to wait and had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner elsewhere. Why did we refuse? Not because of the waiting time. Like I said, no problem. But because of the really bad service. To the Fallabella management: Your front desk is like a business card. It is the first point of contact with customers. The way you treat customers there is also what they can expect as guests inside the restaurant. Customers are not begging for anything. They offer you their money in exchange for your food, drinks and customer service. Without customers, neither of your employees would have a paid job and you would go out of business.
Fallabella is at an exceptional location with a great view. The prices are exceptional, too. But no matter how good the food might be (we had no chance to even try, so I don't know), no matter how hi-so you think your shop is, this was the worst customer experience I ever had in Bangkok and I surely will never again in my life consider to spend my money on your shockingly bad service.
Do yourself a favour and don't let people stand outside for 90 minutes until their name is called. Be friendly, take their phone numbers or LINE contacts and let them roam freely around Icon Siam in order to sweeten their waiting time a little bit. Don't expect everyone to be so eager to take selfies at your location that they are crazy enough to stand in front of your door for hours. Only people who are very needy for Instagram selfies or who cannot think of any other options for a nice river-side dining experience in BKK would be so stupid to do that. There are many good restaurants with great customer service in BKK, even inside Icon Siam there are dozens of...
Read moreNestled along the serene riverfront, Fallabella River Front truly lives up to its reputation as a premier fine dining destination. Our visit, perfectly timed between 6-7 PM, offered a breathtaking spectacle as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues that made the already stunning river view absolutely unforgettable. This is a place where the ambiance alone justifies the visit. While the prices reflect its status as a fine dining establishment, every aspect of the experience ensures it's money well spent. The food was nothing short of awesome – each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor, showcasing a commitment to culinary excellence. What truly elevated our evening, however, was the impeccable service. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and genuinely contributed to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A memorable moment was their recommendation of a local, unpasteurized beer, served in an impressive 1.5-liter bottle resembling champagne. As a group of four, it was our first time trying such a beer, and its unique, refreshing taste was surprisingly good, a testament to the adventurous spirit encouraged by the staff.Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Fallabella River Front to any visitor seeking a refined dining experience complemented by spectacular views, exceptional food, and outstanding service. It's an ideal spot for those special occasions or simply when you want to indulge in the finer side of...

The lady who seated us was very kind and polite. It was evening and we accidentally stumbled upon the restaurant, so of course we had no reservations whatsoever. We didn’t ask for special seats, but the lady went out of her way to see if anything was available at their riverfront tables. It was unfortunately full, but she offered to have us seated and we could wait for the queue to move tables once one became available. I asked her if it would take long, and she accurately estimated it would take no longer than 30 minutes.
Within 15 minutes a table became available and staff changed our table as promised.
The food arrived within 10 minutes after ordering. It’s good but not exceptional. With this nice of a view it was definitely worth it and a very enjoyable experience.
Cons: Hot latte tasted watery. My partner is quite picky with coffee, so he made me try it cause I can find pleasure in the most average coffee. However, this one didn’t taste good even for me. Another review mentions it tasted like Nescafé instant coffee, and I have to agree. Perhaps this could be something to improve on.
Note: it’s not fine dining. It’s a regular restaurant (with focus on seafood), with a live band, great atmosphere, and...
