Billed as a farm to city, home-made food, organic and free-range Thai restaurant, Ginger Farm Kitchen sounds like it would be a place worth visiting. Alas, no.
The concept is intriguing, no doubt about it. The only problem for me was, the food was so bland and definitely not something I would showcase as Thai. Some in our group of 11 thought the food was good, others said it was just so-so, and a few like me were thoroughly disappointed.
Interestingly, one person who thought the food was good had the spicy salmon ceviche. I think Peru may take issue with anyone claiming that it's a Thai dish. But anyway she said it was nicely spiced, and the salmon did look fresh.
Of course, I ordered the pad Thai with prawns. Boy was it bad. Now, if you claim to make home-made Thai food and can't get pad Thai right, then I really question that claim. I don't even know how a Thai chef can even put out a dish like what I had without any sense of shame.
Yes, I know pad Thai probably originated in China; but it's long been promoted as a Thai dish.
Service was excellent, however. And the nearby ceiling to floor gigantic waterfall provided some amusement...
Read moreAbsolutely non sense beyng a "Michelin". We went 2 days in a roll in this restaurant. 31/12 and 01/01/24. The first time was good, despite the suffered service (nobody knows anything, they always need to ask everything for one girl. (Not mention about the dificult to communicate with the clients, poor english.) Each dish came separated, when we are already finishing, arrived the last dish ordered. One person saw everyone eanting, until his dish was served. The day before we ordered a salmon appetizer, it was very good, nice decorated, nice quantity. The next day, it comes completely different, few pieces, no sauce like the day before, like it was made by someone that doesn't know what is doing. (we ordered no Spice and came good on the first day, so that's no excuse to make it different the other day. (I thought that Michelin should be all padronized, indepently of who is cooking that day.) I order the Spaghetti carbonara with crab, and .... the tyne crab shell came empty!! believe it or not (pic od my plate and of the menu.) In my opinion, good, but depends on the cooker and does not...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had dinner here one night. We ordered the fried pork, raw veggie wrap rolls, and a smoothie.
The next day, we woke up with severe symptoms of food poisoning. We vomited and had nonstop diarrhea throughout the day. We were both getting very dehydrated and couldn’t keep any food down.
We went to a local hospital for treatment. We got medications and injections from the hospital which helped a lot. Unfortunately, because we got food poisoning, we had to cancel our trip to Chiang Mai.
We suspect it was the raw veggie rolls that made us sick. People had warned me that it’s not safe to eat raw food in Bangkok. We avoided all raw meat and seafood, as well as street food. However, we mistakenly thought it would be safe to eat raw veggies at Ginger Farm since its other location is on the Michelin Guide, and this one is in Icon Siam.
In our subsequent visits to Icon Siam after that night’s dinner, we noticed that both the men’s and women’s bathrooms had run out of...
