When I think of exceptional dining experiences, I reflect on Simon Sinek's philosophy of starting with why. Why does a restaurant exist? At its heart, Bombay Palace in Ao Nang embodies a profound purpose: to bring people together through authentic Indian flavours, warm hospitality, and unforgettable moments. This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a place where passion, precision, and purpose collide to create something extraordinary.
The Staff: A Team Driven by Purpose
The team at Bombay Palace doesn’t just serve food; they serve a mission to make every guest feel valued and cherished. From the moment we entered, their smiles were genuine, their attentiveness unparalleled. They didn’t just take orders; they curated an experience. Every suggestion was thoughtful, as though they knew exactly what our palates craved. It was clear their why was deeply rooted in spreading joy and comfort through their service.
The Menu: A Symphony of Flavours
Indian restaurants in Brisbane have set the bar high for me, but Bombay Palace soared beyond it. The menu was a testament to India's culinary diversity, blending traditional favourites with creative twists. The butter chicken was perfection—velvety, richly spiced, and balanced just right. The lamb rogan josh was tender and aromatic, while the garlic naan was fluffy yet crisp in all the right places. Every bite was a reminder that the chefs are artisans of flavour, driven by a commitment to authenticity and excellence.
The Food: A Celebration of Love and Craftsmanship
At Bombay Palace, food isn’t just prepared; it’s crafted with love. The vibrant colours, tantalising aromas, and bold flavours came together in harmony. You could taste the pride in every dish, from the intricacy of the spice blends to the perfectly cooked textures. What truly stood out was the freshness of the ingredients, an uncompromising dedication to quality that turned a simple meal into a soulful celebration.
Why It Exceeded Expectations
In Australia, particularly in Brisbane, we are spoilt for choice with incredible Indian cuisine. Yet, Bombay Palace redefined my expectations. It wasn’t just about the food (which was phenomenal) or the service (which was impeccable); it was about how they made me feel. They created a space where I felt connected—to the culture, to the staff, and to the artistry behind the meal. That, I believe, is their why: to make every guest leave with more than just a full belly but a heart full of warmth and gratitude.

Read moreAfter wanting to try something other than Thai food, I searched for restaurants near my hotel with good reviews and came across Bombay Palace.
I ended up going to this restaurant for back-to-back dinners during my stay in Ao Nang. The first night we had a table for two people and sampled a bunch of dishes. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and seemed knowledgeable about Indian food. The food portions were reasonable and the dishes had lots of flavor. This was more than enough to convince my entire family to join me the second night.
The food and service me and my family received was great just like the previous night. However after we left things started to go downhill.
Four of my five family members that shared the green Indian curry dish ended up with symptoms of severe food poisoning within hours after eating(spent most of the night running to the bathroom with an very upset stomach and diarrhea). I am sure it was caused by unclean food preparation of the green Indian curry and possibly spicy lamb.
I would like to give this restaurant a good review, but I can't in good faith risk sending other people through what my family had to endure after eating here.
Finally, consider that restaurant has a lot of 5 star reviews from people with 1 or...
Read moreOMG, in 42 years of eating Indian curry, last night, I consumed the GOAT - Greatest Of All Time - in an unassuming curry house in a tourist street in Krabi. Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to present the Bombay Palace,Krabi As we entered I noticed that we were the only non-Indians dining which - despite being stitched up in similar circumstances at a Wembley curry house in 1985 - i took as a promising sign but i could never have imagined the cullenary adventure that we were about to embark on. We opened with a prawn momos which took me straight back to the UK prawn purees that i can never find in NZ. We quickly followed with a fish tikka dish consisting of a fleshy white fish cooked to perfection in a subtle Tikka source. An over-flowing shrimp biryani packed with substance was the next cab off the rank and then possibly the piece de résistance, a chilli chicken that melted in the mouth. Every dish spectacular, spiced to exactly the right level and presented with love….. and complimented by ‘best ever’ garlic naans and washed down with some of the local brew....
