Reggae Town Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Krabi Province

Experienced my 1st scam in Thailand. It was a horrible experience. We came for a live band and some drinks with some friends, we paid and so did they.

Later that evening we walked past back to our accommodation and 2 ladies with cctv footage ran up to us accusing us of not paying and showing us a video of us leaving.

We were certain we paid, the CCTV didn’t show anything, just showed us standing up from our seats. However we could see that the staff were clearly very distressed and convinced we didn’t pay and that we were running away and were quite aggressive. To ease the situation, partner was submissive and and calm and said we’d pay again as they weren’t going to take no for an answer.

I stayed out of it and stood on the street while he was sorting it, 2 women from the bar began to abuse me as though I was a thief to both locals and other customers. People were just watching them yell and scream.

My partner only began to put his foot down when they asked him to pay double, which he refused. They continued to be aggressive then continued to call the police and we called the tourist police.

I’m not sure if this was a common scam or if they had genuinely mistakenly thought we hadn’t paid. Just make sure you take a photo of your bill and make sure you stand...

I came here on the 8th April 2024 as part of a bar crawl with the Nomads hostel. I can’t fault this place one bit, not just for the amazing band playing or the good vibes and drinks but also for the amazing staff that work there. As with any bar crawl, lots of alcohol was consumed by many. Including by a very intoxicated man part of the group, who I was unfortunately subject to him aggressively grabbing me multiple times to try and kiss me, after about 5/6 times of me pushing him off me others around pulled him away where he then tried to start fights. This is when one of the female workers noticed something was going on. When she came over to break up the fights I told her what had happened and asked if he could be removed from the bar, and I have never seen a roughly 5ft women move so fast in my life! There was no hesitation, no questions, she went and got help to stop him causing havoc and got him out with the help of one of the Nomads hostel leaders. This lady then came back to check I was okay and gave me a hug! A rough start to the evening but I couldn’t have asked for anything else! The rest of the evening was amazing there before we moved on to the next bar! I felt very safe here...

Went here as part of my 60th Birthday treat courtesy of my two wonderful children. Had a couple of live bands playing, who were excellent, and certainly helped the place live up to its name. After we'd eaten a bit, and danced a bit more, we managed to get a few tables outside to enjoy some additional entertainment by way of a brilliant fire eating member of the staff.
