Wow! Packed and cues! It must be amazing. We thought wrong. Instead it was highly affordable. Another reason why restaurants are often full in places like Krabi.
We waited for our table and were seated within a few minutes. We went through the menu and ended up eating 3 Wiener Schnitzel. Yes, I know, we should have gone for the steaks they would say. But hey, a Wiener Schnitzel done right is a marvelous treat. It wasn't Wiener of course, which it often is not and living in Thailand one would know that the veal is substituted with pork. Then the question remains what is the difference between a pork Wiener Schnitzel and a Schnitzel? Not sure. Anyhow, the pork Wiener Schnitzel was very large and only Bt. 295 including fries and salad buffet (here the reason again why they may have been so busy). Unfortunately to our dislike the pork Wiener Schnitzel was very thick and most probably not beaten as it should be done (even with a pork Wiener Schnitzel), to get the beautiful thing and tender taste out of the meat. Unfortunately to top all of that, it also had no taste and was only ok with plenty of mayonnaise. The chef must have completely forgotten to marinate it. In a proper Wiener Schnitzel belongs egg as well plus of course the right amount of spices. Seemed nothing was present. Never had to add salt to a Schnitzel, but on that day at Diver's Inn.
I give it 3 stars because the service was attentive, the owner came to the table and in general they were very polite. But unfortunately I went there to eat and the expectation of a great meal was...
Read moreMy family of five—me, my wife, and our three daughters (17, 16, and 11)—visited Diver’s Inn yesterday after seeing the glowing Google reviews. We’ve been in Thailand for a couple of weeks now, and this is the first restaurant to serve all of us at the same time. Big win right there!
I ordered the Rib-Eye, cooked medium-rare, and it was spot on. The sides complemented it perfectly. My wife had the sirloin, also great, with solid sides. The free salad bar that came with the steaks was a nice touch—and as a Norwegian, I have to say the potato salad gave me nostalgic summer BBQ vibes!
The kids had pasta Bolognese, pasta Carbonara, and a burger with fries. All three gave it a big thumbs-up, so clearly the menu works for all ages.
The staff were polite, friendly, and super efficient. What I assume was the owner even came around to check in with the guests, making sure everything was up to standard. You can tell they care about the details.
If I had to nitpick, it would be the atmosphere. It’s what you’d expect from a spot in the middle of a busy, touristy shopping street—completely fine for what it is, but when you think about the amazing beach-view restaurants just minutes away offering a different vibe, it’s a star off for me. That said, I doubt anyone choosing to eat in a shopping street (like we did) would see this as an issue 😅
All in all, nothing to complain about. Great food, great service....
Read moreMy wife and I came to celebrate my birthday. I ordered cordon bleu, and my wife ordered duck cooked well done.
The chef at this strange establishment failed to prepare either of these very simple dishes properly. One of the pieces of duck was bleeding. My wife didn't notice it at first because she was checking the properly cooked piece.
The cordon bleu wasn't cooked through, and I accidentally ate a piece of raw pork before I noticed the strange taste. The cordon bleu was remade, but it didn't taste any better. The second attempt lacked any salt, and it tasted like shoe leather.
No apologies were made. Moreover, the rude owner of the place tried to tell me it is ok that I ate a raw pork, that it was my own fault and that I could add as much salt to the dish as I wanted. I’m glad he didn’t suggest I cook the food myself, though I’m sure he would be capable of it. I was charged for a dish I barely touched.
I strongly advise against eating anything there. It looks more like a tourist trap. The only reason to go would be for relatively cheap imported beer. They cant fail it, right?
I can't believe a place like this has such a high rating, and even on the top of Ao Nang at tripadvisor. Maybe paid?
BTW, I see he likes to leave inappropriate comments here. I’m looking...
