Unfortunately we read the reviews a bit too late. Otherwise we would have skipped this so-called restaurant straight away... So let this be a warning. Do NOT eat here. First; we saw a sign outside that a table at the beach was 3000 Baht. Inside they told us, no it's 5000 Baht and you need to order a sea food platter. Okay. I don't like sea food, so that's a no go. Weird, but understandable. Next; we ordered two appetizers and two main courses. What do we get the first round? My main course and my wife the starter. Okay. Not how we ordered it, but didn't want to make an hassle out of it. So started eating, but as soon as I ate my main course, my appetizer arrived? Also my wife was still eating and the fish arrived. This happened the first time in Thailand. Normally they understand that people want to eat. But here they don't understand anything... Anyways they started to become difficult because of the main course for my wife being send back. So then the waiter asked if my wife was getting a baby?! Really?! She has not the perfect size, but she is perfect for me. How unprofessional are you to ask such a question?! She was also drinking wine (we had a bottle). When you are getting a baby, you do not drink. Anyways this is by far the worst experience we had in Thailand so far (3 weeks honeymoon). We have so far only had good and very polite restaurants, but this one? A 100% disgrace to Thailand. Never again. And avoid this at all costs. Do not go for dinner here! Really. Be warned!! Do not say I didn't warn you... Sidenotes; my main course (stir beef something), which came as a starter, was decent. The chicken satay (ordered as appetizer, served as main course) was the worst satay in Thailand so far. The wife's main course was okay as was her starter (Caesar's salad). The waiter spoke very, very poor English. Worst so far. I understand English might be difficult and we adapt to that as well, but making a stupid remark as my wife being pregnant because of her "size", that really did it. If this was my restaurant I would have fired him on the spot! So again; be warned about this restaurant. It looks very nice, but for the rest it's very poor at best. This is our first day at Ko Phi Phi and we have chosen the worst restaurant here possible. Also the same waiter got into an argument with a different customer from England. And another table (next to us) got the wrong order... Just a few examples I our 1 hour stay here. So... If you want a horrible evening. Go here. You will be certain you get the worst evening of your night. Edit: also the next day both me and my wife had diarrhea. Most probably because of the food from here. AGAIN DO NOT GO HERE!

The Chao Koh Thai Restaurant is just across from the Chao Koh Phi Phi Hotel and Resort. The open air, but covered seating has stunning views of the limestone cliffs that majestically mesmerize on the Tonsai Beach side of the island. The tranquil bay, the boats, all provide stunning vistas that leave you awestruck. With this backdrop, let’s talk about the food. The lunch and dinner menu covers both Thai and Western fare. The speciality here is the fresh seafood, that is maintained in tanks in front of the restaurant, with fresh catch of the day samples also displayed on ice. I had barbecued tiger prawns on one night with a side of mashed potatoes. It also came with drawn butter and a seafood sauce. I also asked for Thai chilis with fish sauce. While the prawns were fresh (I chose them off the ice) they came out slightly dry. The second night, I had their freshly caught sea bass. It turned out to be the whole fish, the meat pieces deep fried and lightly stir fried with chili and onions. Sadly no sauce. After me asking why (because I had checked before ordering), they said that they could bring a black pepper sauce on the side. This was superb with onions, chilis and intoxicating flavors. I used this to cover the fish pieces and it definitely enhanced the dish. The garlic and butter fried rice was nothing to write home about. On my third night, I was at the restaurant, again. Ordered the spicy cucumber salad (with anchovie dressing) and the tiger prawns, in black pepper sauce. Both dishes absolutely blew me away. Honestly, I have never had anything like this, anywhere in the United States. There was the perfect symphony of textures, flavors, and robust tastes and fragrances. And both dishes had dynamic Hollywood optics. Wow, I think I was taken to another place when I was eating…. absolutely spectacular. Look for my pictures. Service at the restaurant is attentive, obliging and high class. Thank you, Bus. The other side of the restaurant has a breakfast buffet every morning. The selections are limited, with Thai and Western items. I always went for their Thai options. The fried rice was always spectacular. That with the fish preparation of the morning, always hit the spot.

Chao Koh Thai Restaurant: A Disappointing Experience My recent visit to Chao Koh Thai Restaurant on Phi Phi Island was extremely disappointing, not because of the food itself (which I didn't get to try), but because of the shockingly poor and discriminatory service I received. I've never encountered such blatant disregard for customers based on their perceived origin. My dining experience was marred by the staff's dismissive and frankly racist behavior. On multiple occasions, my attempts to order were met with indifference. While the staff readily attended to other tables, notably those occupied by non-Indian patrons, they completely ignored me and my dining companion. We tried to get their attention two or three times, but they simply turned away and continued serving other guests. This blatant disregard was both humiliating and unacceptable. As someone who enjoys trying different cuisines, I was genuinely interested in the dishes Chao Koh Thai offered. I wanted to ask questions about the menu and get recommendations, but the staff's behavior made it clear that my business was not valued. It's particularly appalling that such discriminatory practices are taking place in the hospitality industry, and in a restaurant that claims to be a well-established establishment on such a beautiful island. The staff's behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply shameful. Especially the person in the picture. Such blatant racism has no place in any restaurant, especially one catering to tourists from all over the world. I strongly advise anyone, particularly those of Indian descent, to avoid Chao Koh Thai Restaurant. There are plenty of other dining options on Phi Phi Island that offer delicious food and, more importantly, treat all customers with respect.

We have noe been in Thailand for 7 days and have been very impressed with our overall service, pricing, and quality of food. Tonight however we had by far our worse meal yet. To start off my wife ordered a banana smoothie. She got her smoothie, took a sip, and got a mouth full of coconut. To make it worse my wife is deathly allergic to coconut. Luckily I always carry a bottle of benadryl to counteract these occasional mistakes. We notified the waitress and she got us a new smoothie right away. We proceeded with our meal & my wife ordered sweet & sour chicken which she has ordered multiple times on this trip. She recieved her food 15 minutes before myself which always makes for a awkward moment trying to decide should I wait for your food and let mine get cold or should I eat now. I told her to start eating followed by her taking her 1st bite. You should have seen the look on her face as she choked down her 1st bite. She asked me to taste it and the "sweet & sour sauce" was literally ketchup. I called the waiter over again and asked her what it was. She said sweet and sour with tomato sauce. I pointed to the ketchup on the table next to us and she nodded yes. I told her it was nasty and she nodded in agreement, told me she thinks it is gross and stuck her tongue out making a similar face my wife had just made. We asked to order something else which quickly came & was mediocre but edible. Finally my food arrived which was a lobster as we decided we were going to treat ourselves to a fine meal tonight which obviously was not going so well. My lobster was 1300 thai baht (~$43.50 USD) which was sadly a complete waste. The lobster was very small, over cooked, and had no flavor besides the mound of minced garlic draped over the top. When I got my bill they wanted to charge my for my wife's noodles with ketchup. I had to argue that we shouldn't have to pay for that. The waitress removed it after some discussion. Needless to say we left utterly disappointed & still hungry. I went down the street and we got a pancake and pizza. I typically hate leaving such awful reviews but I would hate for anyone to have such a disappointing experience on...
