A bit disappointed with the food after seeing the reviews here. Great service and good vibes but really missed the mark on the food.. But at least presentation is pleasant #doitforthegram
Our beef tartare had several weird, sinewy pieces in it that husband unceremoniously had to spit out. We were 3/4ths done when this happened but they still graciously offered to change the dish for us and gave us scallops. Sadly, the scallops were a bit undercooked and flavorless as well.
My king prawn (three avg cocktail shrimp sized pieces) was also pretty average and came with spinach that tasted completely unseasoned and probably just blanched/ boiled? I mean, maybe some people like it that but not even a sprinkle of salt and pepper?
Husband's seabass was pretty good but nothing to write home about. He ordered the cream spinach on the side which was tasty.
Can we talk about the truffle mash though??? Not sure if they rushed the mash because it was a last minute order and we had already waited 30+ minutes for our mains but it was awkwardly lumpy (like a weird inbetween of grainy and smooth?) and didnt have seem to have any butter in it and was also underseasoned.... I mean, it looked a bit gray if anything. Perhaps I missed the word 'healthy' in the menu.. Avoid the truffle mash. Forgot to take pics..
Keylime pie 6.5/10.
Overall, as nice as the servers are and despite how nice the presentation of the food is, would definitely...
Read moreCame for the food reviews/beach lunch but there is no menu choices at all. You can get a hamburger or a pasta anywhere. There is no music or nice feel for lunch. We ordered a tall mineral water which was 390 bhat and left. We eat at S…. down the street lovely restaurant/sea view 5 star…and wanted to try new places but this fell flat. The view is nice and server was kind but fell way short of expectations. The menu is very boring with nothing innovative for the prices. You could be anywhere in a 2-4 star hotel and get the same menu. Super disappointing. Also if you are local there is a sign to go to restaurant from the street with their logo on the wall. That leads you down a long walk and you end up at the beach. Because it’s right next to Marriott you make the mistake of going left and after 10 minutes of walking in the hot sun realize you’re in the wrong place. Then you have to go back to start and see a hidden faded sign in the bush impossible to read stating a shaky right? It’s placed along with many other signs, so unless you know to look for a sign in the bush among other faded signs, you’re out of luck. Really unfortunate marking/sign/menu for a 5 star. We walked back through the hotel and the Indian/Thai restaurat seems a strange combination and the Japanese is a second story square with no view of sea. Maybe just not a good day but my experiences at their other hotels were night and day….will be going...
Read moreIt’s simple food with elegant plating; grilled steaks and seafood mostly and some international crowd pleasers like steak tartare, burrata and risottos. The theme is salt so everything is served on a slab of salt and surrounded by rock salt. It seems like it is for display but the salt does infuse into the food which is ok given the simple preparation. The minimalist approach to cooking leaves little room for error and in this case it was a bit of a miss. They should take the crab off the menu which were clearly not live when cooked, the mushy texture is what I get in average takeaways at home. If they can’t serve live crabs at this expensive price point, I would have left it out. The other stuff like mussels and prawns were too cooked for me to tell if fresh or frozen. Not terribly over cooked but enough to be a disappointment. Tbh, I had a far better meal at the seafood shack next door which grilled and steamed live crabs perfectly for 1/4 the price. The ribeye steak was nice but at 2,200 baht for about 250 grams should have been better and didn’t taste of any dry aging. Service was good however and wine list...
