Backstreet House Pattaya is a hidden gem! We were staying in a hotel nearby and saw it on the map, walked down the back streets and thought, “there’s no way a coffee shop can be out here” - luckily we kept walking a bit further, and we came across it…like a private oasis in the middle of a quiet part of Pattaya! It really is a beautiful looking place with tons of nice photo spots, and when you walk inside it’s even better!
They have great interior design with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and Pokémon plushies everywhere! They even have Pokémon-inspired coffee blended from Northern Thailand - what?! And, on top of it all, the staff is extremely friendly and make you feel like family. Honestly some of the nicest staff I’ve met in a coffee shop in Thailand so far - they go out of their way to explain everything on the menu for you and they speak great English as well.
Be sure to try their Signature coffees! They have dozens of different special blends of coffee roasted in-house, but some of the Signature coffees are beyond good! We ordered both the apricot iced espresso soda and the khaw hom as well as the mango sticky rice iced soda (not coffee) and a toffee cake. The apricot iced espresso soda is super good - if you like the fruity coffee sparkling drinks that many cafes have, like the orange sparkling coffees and lychee sparkling coffees, you’ll like this one. The mango sticky rice soda was super good as well; really unique and actually tastes like its description! The toffee cake was pretty good, and the best by far was khaw hom!
Khaw hom is (as the guy behind the counter explained) a mixture of coffee, jasmine rice, and some unique spices, they shake it up till it’s frothy, and serve cold. I have NEVER had coffee that tasted like this (don’t worry, they get rid of the rice so it’s not actually in the drink…it just gets a bit of a rice flavor) - and it was unbelievably good! One of the best coffee drinks I’ve had in a long time and I will definitely be getting it again. I only wish it were bigger - I would drink a massive cup of this every day! 😂
All in all, I would totally recommend visiting Backstreet House Pattaya. From the food to the drinks to the employees to the atmosphere, everything is top-notch. As I said in the beginning, truly a hidden gem in...
Read moreI found this place by chance in February 2025 while looking for a spot to send some work online. The coffee recommended by the barista exceeded all expectations — rich, flavorful, and made from naturally fermented beans using wine yeast with no artificial flavoring. I was so impressed that I bought beans back to Bangkok and have been ordering online ever since. I’ve also recommended it to friends and family who now enjoy their coffee too.
During the recent long weekend, I took my parents to Pattaya for a short getaway and brought them to this shop. My father, who has brewed their beans at home and loved the clarity of their flavors, was eager to try the drip coffee prepared directly by the baristas here. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed this time.
We ordered two drip coffees, and I noticed the cashier asking the barista whether they could take the order. The barista hesitated for a moment — which I completely understand since the shop was quite busy at that time. However, they accepted the order. Sadly, the coffee was made in a rush, and the result was underwhelming. The flavor was weak and lacked the depth we had come to expect. My parents were especially disappointed, considering how much they had enjoyed the beans when brewed at home.
If I may humbly suggest — in the future, if the baristas are too busy to give full attention to the drip process, it might be better not to accept the order at that time. Customers would understand and appreciate the honesty more than receiving a rushed cup that doesn’t reflect the usual standard.
Despite this recent experience, I still love the coffee here and will continue to support the shop. I just hope the care and detail that first impressed me — and so many others — continues to be upheld...
Read moreA hidden coffee shop tucked away behind winding roads — you’d never expect to find a specialty café that’s also part bar, with its own roastery and even a resort on site.
They serve medium to dark roast coffee that’s been roasted beautifully, without any bitter aftertaste. I stopped by just before heading back to Bangkok and ordered the Black Craft, which is an intense double-shot Americano — bold and satisfying. I also got the Mocha, a unique drink made with matcha blended with an Americano shot. The deep, earthy matcha paired surprisingly well with the coffee, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. For those who don’t drink coffee, the café also offers a variety of non-coffee options.
The baristas are friendly, polite, and really knowledgeable — you can feel the genuine care they have for their customers.
The café offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area transforms into a bar-like atmosphere at night, while the outdoor section features multiple tables tucked among lush greenery. It’s a peaceful and cozy setting. No wonder this hidden spot has so many reviews and an impressive rating...
