Pizza Lovely — Restaurant in Pattaya City

Pizza Lovely is a cute little stand at the lower corner entrance to Jomtien Complex. I love cracker crust pizza and this stand’s pizzas have perfect cracker crusts. The cheese toppings seem fine and the pizzas are priced well. My accolades stop there, as there are serious problems.

I expected our sausage pizza to have Italian sausage. Instead, they used chunks of cheap hot dog. I asked for crushed red pepper flakes, a standard seasoning for pizza in Europe and America. Instead, I was handed a bottle of Tabasco sauce. Tabasco has too much vinegar to season the pizza appropriately. Even typical dried ground Thai chili would have worked out ok. Finally, each pizza was heavily sprinkled with strong, stale tasting dried oregano. Any fresh flavors that might have come from ingredients like good tomato sauce or fresh vegetables were totally overwhelmed by that very pungent herb.

Perhaps the solution is to bring my own Italian sausage and crushed red pepper from home and to make sure Lovely’s pizza chef does not use the stale oregano. With just a few changes, their pizza could be superb. Unfortunately, at the moment, it’s...

Of course it's just a small food stand on the road side, as there are many others in Thailand. What's ok is the choice and prices. What's NOT ok was the overall unhygienic practices, the cook kept his rubber gloves to prepare the pizza and put the ingredients on it, then he handled the money and drove away to deliver the pizza: always with the same gloves 😡 The ingredients are not kept in the refrigerator. I live close to this Pizza stall and was really looking forward to it. Sadly it was just not very good. Pizza was super thin and bone dry. I had Pepperoni but I sadly won't ear here again. Best Pizza is Bronx Pizza but even though my pizza was cooked fresh for me in Pizza Lovely, It was bland and the worst Pizza I've had for years.
