Me and my girlfriend went came here for dinner. We arrived about 6:40pm, 20 minutes before Happy Hour was supposed to end. We each ordered a Happy Hour beer and it was served well before 7:00 pm (end of Happy Hour time). My girlfriend ordered a second Happy Hour beer around 6:50 pm and it was served well before 7:00 pm. We ate our dinner and asked for the bill at around 7:40 pm. When the bill arrived, they charged the full prices of our Happy Hour beers. When I confronted the waitress, she insisted the beers were served and ordered after 7:00 pm which was not true at all because I clearly made sure what we ordered and delivered was prior to 7:00 pm. Upon arguing with the waitress for 5 minutes, she came back with a revised bill with the Happy Hour prices. She then proceeded to tell me the beers they brought us were not in the Happy Hour size cups. The thing is I pointed at the sign when ordering the beers so it was made very clear I was ordering Happy Hour beers. She made me feel like it was my fault they brought the wrong size cups which I had no idea about at the time. In conclusion, they played dirty with me, first with the time, then with the size of the cups the beer came in. I will not...
Read moreBased on a friend’s recommendation, I recently visited Witherspoon for an English breakfast. Upon entering, I inquired about indoor seating, only to be greeted with a less-than-welcoming attitude. The staff's demeanor felt dismissive, with the menu handed to me abruptly.
I ordered a skillet breakfast with several additions, but the unfriendly atmosphere persisted throughout the meal. Unfortunately, I couldn't help but feel that my appearance may have influenced the service, as I am of Asian descent (though I was born and raised in London).
Having spent the last 12 years between the UK and Thailand, I’ve had many dining experiences, and while I am not limited financially, I believe in supporting establishments that value all customers. With the many excellent restaurants offering quality service, I will be choosing to dine elsewhere in the future.
I am sharing this experience in hopes that management will review the level of service provided by the staff toward customers, especially considering the importance of reviews in today’s business landscape.
To clarify, this feedback does not reflect on the quality of the food, which was above...
Read moreI've been reluctant to come here despite walking past a number of times. I felt it looked dark and a little run-down; and that the food was British, Australian and American type cuisine with little Thai food to be had.
Having just been to Witherspoons I'd say I was partly right, but mostly wrong. Yes, it's dark but I imagine at night (as opposed to mid-afternoon on a Wednesday) the atmosphere is fantastic. It is dated, but not to the point of looking too shabby. And the food IS mostly western if that's your thing (I prefer Asian food when in Asia: and I avoid meat). I ordered a Thai dish (spicy minced pork salad) and it was delicious. Really, really good. I only had to wait 5-10 minutes.
Which brings me to the service. The waitresses were obviously well-trained and experienced. They were helpful and engaging, without making a nuisance of themselves. I was asked how my meal was and told they hoped I returned. It might not sound much, and they probably say it to everyone, but they added to the very pleasant environment.
I really enjoyed myself at Witherspoons and only wish I'd gone there sooner. I walked away...
