Chao Phraya Maruay Restaurant — Restaurant in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya City Municipality

We HAD to go to this restaurant because our tour guide proposed it, rather in a "take it or leave it" mode. The food was awful. We have been to street food stalls to high end restaurants in different cities of Thailand and it was one of the worst restaurants we've ever been.

Drinks were not included in the course menu of 6-7 dishes and, at the end, were charged almost double the usual price. Beer was charged almost triple the average price. The dishes included som tam, tom yum goong, pad thai, fried chicken, fried fish, fried vegetables and etc. Not that we asked for a michelin star restaurant, but we wanted to get what we pay for.

Seeing other reviews, it seems many tour guides take their customers to this place. I do not know what kind of deal this restaurant has with tour guides, but had I been informed and/or given options, it is not a restaurant that I would go. It seems their business mainly comes from the one-time customers that tour...

Overall good price for big river prawns. They don't understand English and even with our thai guide to help order, they still got it wrong probably on purpose to get more money out of us as we notice the next table of westerns they plate their dishes nicer but charged them slightly more as many of the seafood dishes they charge with weight and want to sell foreigners more. Local guide took us here for lunch which was below average. I ordered noodles but I got big pathges of noodle dough and some pieces of chicken skin with some vegetables. There was no spices on the table so I asked to get some and the only thing I got was some dried pepers. Also I wish people would speak some english at least as turists come here to eat during organised tours to Ayutthaya. I am sorry to say but I would not choose this restaurant for myself.
