I was very disappointed by my experience with Rivet & Rebar. Despite hearing great things about the restaurant, I was refused entry because I was wearing shorts. These weren’t casual gym shorts; they were smart, high-quality Ralph Lauren shorts, perfectly appropriate for the upscale but tropical setting of Phuket.
In a destination known for its warm, humid climate, it’s unreasonable to expect guests to wear trousers to dine. A more flexible dress code that respects the environment and context would make much more sense.
This rigid policy left a sour taste before I even got to try the food, and the service at the door felt dismissive and unaccommodating. I had been looking forward to a great evening here, but instead, I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome.
I hope the management considers revisiting their dress code to align better with the expectations of travelers and the realities of Phuket’s weather. Until then, I won’t be recommending...
Read moreI have always love The Slate... This is my first time at Rivet and I have booked 2 nights for different experience.
I have been making sourdough at home... Their sourdough bun is so good, the crust is crispy... They should reduce the salt in their dough (I am low sodium and use less salt in my own). It is fresh, you can tell.
First night, I had their set menu.. the complementary starter is so good... Much better than the salmon tartar (I am not a big salmon fan), the Australia angua ramp is to die for... It is just so good. It is very thoughtful for them to serve a lime sorbet before that to soften your pellet... The chocolate fondant is a very generous portion, though I am not a dessert fan, I finished it clean.... 😁😁.
It's definitely a great experience at Rivet. Last few times I tried Black Ginger, The Slate never...
Read moreWe just had a mediocore dinner in the Rivet. The place is a grill/international fusion(?) restaurant, with a high pricepoint. We tried the degustation menu, which was underwhelming. It had some good points like the tomato sauce on the gnocchi and the perfectly seared fish in the main course, but the potato dishes were awful (really the gnocchi texture was off, the steak potato was hard as a rock and the gratin was just tasteless), the flavor combinations just did not match... And I didn’t mention that the tea was Pickwick filter for a 2000 BHT dinner... I think the place deserves some re-thinking, with these ingredients this could be an excellent Italian restaurant. The freshness of the ingredients and the good service saved the place from the 1 star. Not recommended, the place has no identity and this reflects on...
