BE CAREFUL — ALWAYS CHECK THE BILL!!!
The food at Aroy Dee was decent, though portions were smaller compared to other places we visited in Koh Samui. The seafood section, in particular, seemed pricier relative to similar restaurants on the island.
Unfortunately, our experience was tarnished by what appeared to be an intentional overcharge. Here’s what happened:
When our bill came, it was ฿950—far more than we expected based on what we ordered. My partner paid, but I decided to double-check the menu outside. As I was doing so, my partner noticed the waiter nudging the owner at the cashier. They both appeared to notice me verifying prices. I go back to my table and tell my partner they charged us wrong, she then tells me she noticed the staff nudging each other as I went to verify the prices. Interestingly enough, that’s when the owner promptly approached us with cash, claiming we’d been given the wrong bill, supposedly belonging to the table next to us.
However, the “corrected” bill they presented wasn’t a new bill at all. It was clearly our original bill with pen lines drawn through the old price and a new total of ฿440. It was obvious they had simply modified the bill and not switched it for the other table’s.
Adding to our suspicion, we recalled hearing that the family at the table next to us had paid ฿920. We also noticed what they ordered—a noodle, some cheap clams, and nuggets. When we checked the menu again, their meal should have been closer to ฿400 as well. This made us suspect they were also overcharged, just as we had been.
Be vigilant and double-check your bill if you eat here. But if you wanna know my opinion: I’m...

Aroy Dee – Koh Samui’s Hidden Gem Near Fisherman’s Village We stumbled upon Aroy Dee just off the main street near Fisherman’s Village, and what a find! The restaurant offers excellent value and outstanding flavors.
We tried the Pad Thai, BBQ pork, chicken satay skewers, and chicken fried rice. Each dish was beautifully seasoned and packed with authentic Thai flavor—the Pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, sour, and umami, the BBQ pork was tender and smoky, the chicken satay skewers came with a rich peanut sauce, and the chicken fried rice was delightfully fragrant.
On top of the delicious food, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive—adding to the welcoming, relaxed vibe of the place. If you’re in Koh Samui and looking for great local food at a fair price, Aroy Dee is...
Read moreWe were sent out the wrong food and instead of complaining decided to just eat it. They then realised and bought out the correct food we said it’s fine we will eat this but the male owner wanted us to pay for both meals. I refused and he got so angry. It was very disappointing this was our third visit. Please respect your customers. UPDATE: to your reply we did not say to give it to the correct table. We said we are happy to eat the incorrect food given to us and not to bring the food we ordered. It is not our fault you did not understand. We were being polite in that we did not want to let you know you bought out the wrong food. Extremely poor customer service at this restaurant be warned if you...
