The food here is amazing! We had a group of 13 (ages 10-54). Everyone loved the food. The service was a bit slow (food was out within half hour of order time), which was completely understandable based on their being short-staffed at the time, and the size of our group. Although they told us in the future we could order in advance so when we arrived the wait wouldn’t be as long. One chef made various dishes and they all came out amazing, which was quite impressive. The setting is really cozy and we had a good time chatting while we waited. The service was also impeccable. They ran out of wine and even left to go get some more for us. Their Phad Thai was the best I have had anywhere. And I have had it in various places of Thailand and around the world. Same with the spaghetti bolognese. Even better than I have had in Italy! We have one more day here in Samui and will return....
Read moreFour of us had lunch at Nely Restaurant this afternoon. After a trek up the hill, Nely greeted us and made mango and pineapple smoothies to help us cool down. Nely's offerings are many, from Western style dishes to local specialties. We ordered dishes varying from ginger chicken, pad thai, and Nely's specialty, duck in green pepper sauce. We were advised that everything is cooked fresh to order. So, we had a bit of a wait for our food, but the wait was entirely worth it. All the dishes were excellent, but the standout was the duck in green pepper sauce. It's the best duck I've ever had! It's a full duck breast in a cream sauce with fresh peppercorns cooked to perfection. It's large enough for 2 people to share, but I devoured it by myself. Thanks, Nely, we'll certainly visit again before...
Read moreI have been in Thailand for three weeks and this is both the most expensive and the most boring local food I had. The Massaman curry tasted more like potato soup (nearly no spices, very little coconut milk, zero heat) and cost 140 baht. I asked for mango juice and received mango shake which cost a whopping 95 baht. They charged 39 baht for rice. (I have had full meals for 50 baht in Hat Yai.)
During my time in Thailand I got used to not looking at prices and ordering right away in local restaurants. This is the time it backfired and I got overcharged.
I have no idea how come this place has reviews this amazing.
After I objected to the ridiculous prices for the pathetic quality, I was told I didn’t have to pay – at least a gesture of goodwill, which is...
