Rim Lae Restaurant — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

For a beautiful restaurant like this, my friends and I (in total 5 people) were very very disappointed with the food.

One of the disappointing dishes was the calamari. We expected good quality (as by the looks of the restaurant, it looks expensive) but were served with calamari that tasted fake and cheap. It tasted like plain, hard rubber. Not to mention, the size of the calamari was very small.

I had the penne arrabbiata vodka and it was served cold. The food took some time before it was served and to have the first bite cold… that was disappointing. I then asked the waitress to make it hot and when it was served to me the second time, the pasta became stale. It’s as if they just put my penne in the microwave, which is not what I wanted. Other restaurants that I have been to would put it back on the pan to heat it up properly. I was extremely disappointed. My shrimps were big though… At least that’s something right.

One of my friends ordered their pizza. The look of it was like a child putting together their own pizza. The taste was also horrible.

We also had a steak sandwich which was bland.

Overall, the water tastes better than the food. It was definitely not worth the 2k baht that we spent.

To get to the restaurant is complicated. You’ll have to park your bike at a resort or somewhere close to the restaurant and walk on the beach to get there.

I booked this restaurant in advance to celebrate my birthday, but unfortunately the experience fell short. We were told pickup would be at 5 p.m., but after waiting until 5:20, I called and was told they had completely forgotten about us.

When we arrived, the table I had reserved was given to someone else, and we were moved to a table we didn’t like. We ended up choosing another one ourselves. Sadly, the food didn’t make up for it. the pasta didn’t taste that great, and the steak we ordered wasn’t cooked properly. The cocktail was okay.

The only thing I’d suggest for improvement based on my experience is the Wine list. There were only two red wines available, and they were quite low-shelf, even though the prices were marked up. I understand the pricing in restaurants, but it would be great to see better-quality options.

I ordered the steak—it was delicious, but a bit too heavy on the butter.
