After seeing so many 5 star review I’m confused. Am I the only one think this is not worth visiting again? Food: hotpot tasted ok. Black soup and tomyum soup base is normal. Barbecue is really not up to general Thai mookata food standard. The meat they used is hard chewy beef and pork, seafood are very little selection (much lesser variety than other barbecue restaurants in Thailand) for this kind of price point we expected more variety ( say cray fish/crab/more seafood in the shell) Price: on the sign board it says hotpot and bbq was 299 per person. We sat down and started to eat then we found out there was only hotpot on the table, no barbecue. We checked with staff, then the staff told us 299baht was only for the hotpot and asked if we were ok to add on 150baht. We already started eating and at that point we had no choice but to agreed to the add on price. When we go to the counter to checkout for the bill, we were shocked to found out that the price was added up to 853baht (supposed to be 598 baht for 2 people). Staff explained that there is 25baht charge for the ice for the drink we order(we ordered a drink cost 35baht but staff did not tell us the ice would be charged). And another 50 baht is for 1 piece leftover meat in the hotpot soup( it was literally 1 piece left there and they really made the effort to find it. ) Honestly speaking, We felt being scammed by this restaurant as tourists. We totally not recommend nor...
Read moreHeaded over to the Sairee hotpot place as we realised their relatively high ratings on google reviews. But was utterly disappointed.
Firstly, the food was subpar at best. Beef was extremely tough, pork was tough as well. The only saving grace was the bacon and hotpot soup broth.
When we went in, the menu had wrote 299 Baht for a hotpot and bbq buffet, we had ordered that and sat down. When the waiter had asked us what soup we wanted, we told them and they served us the soup. We waited for abit for the bbq but it did not show up. When we prompted the waiter, he had informed us that we would be required to pay an extra 150 baht for the bbq. With him failing to inform us that we had to choose 1 option for the BBQ.
Later on, when I went to pay the bill. I was baffled that they had charged us for ICE. And also, they had charged us for leftover food when we hardly had any leftover food. We had cooked all the meats and ate most of it. Only leaving scraps of meat that we either burnt or inedible.
Once again, I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. After speaking to the local expats that live here, they had told me that the restaurant is renowned for pulling a stunt like that....
Read moreWe have eaten here a few times on koh tao, & its perfect as you make your own meal! There is a vast range of amazing ingredients, all fresh & cook so well. I'd personally choose the BBQ as you can make soup & cook things around the outside part as its filled with water & what ever you BBQ the juices from there end up. Otherwise you can have a huge hotpot if that's what you prefer. You choose your own sauces to dip with or add to the liquid. They have so many meats, fish, tofu, vegetarian & vegan options, vegetables, seaweeds, amazing mushrooms, rice, noodles, starters & even some sushi! You can have fresh fruits to finish with & ice cream. Its very well organised & clean, the staff are all lovely! We will be back & we highly recommend sariee hotpot & BBQ,...
