Yang restaurant — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

My favorite restaurant on the island of Koh Tao.

I am rating five stars for this place based on the following three qualifications that I would personally say make a great restaurant:

Good food Great prices Portion size (I love to eat)

Yes. Ambiance, decor, etc. etc. are some of the reasons one may choose one place over another and I myself love a nice place with good music, a clean bathroom, on and on. However, I will forgo all of that and sit outside on a dirty road and be happy if the previous three requirements are met...actually even two.

This place has it. The food is good! The prices are so very cheap. And the portion sizes are huge (on most dishes).

I was introduced to Yang on my first visit to the island. I recently returned for seven days and must have eaten here at least seven times.

You will find a mix of local and tourists with a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The seating is plentiful but if you come at night you may find yourself sharing a large table with foreigners. No problem because they are all at Yangs and most likely on the island for the same purpose as yourself.

I have had better food on this island but definitely no complaints from the food here and for sure your belly will be filled.

The best bang for your buck while on Koh Tao and the little lady whom I'm assuming is the owner due to her pictures on the walls alongside the king is sweet with her minimal understanding of...

Exceptional Service and Generous Portions! I recently dined at this restaurant and was blown away by the amazing service! The staff's friendly demeanor and warm smiles made us feel right at home. Whenever we needed assistance, they were always prompt and attentive, ensuring our experience was seamless.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the cheap pricing, everything else was shocking. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, and a further hour to receive the food (we were a table of two, ordered only one course each). The restaurant seemed dirty and our table was not even wiped prior to eating. There were used napkins all over the table which was completely ignored. Once our food finally arrived, we were disappointed to discover that the Pad Thai was flavourless and nothing like the traditional dish. All of the noodles were clumped together with a small amount of chicken underneath. We did not enjoy our food at all and could not report this to the staff due to not being able to get their attention. You can’t get a bill at this place, you have to go up to a very rude man at a counter who greets you by saying ‘what’ and tell him what you ordered to be able to pay. It was very apparent throughout our experience that you aren’t a valued customer unless you are one of the regular divers that visit after work, all of which got their orders within 10-15 mins despite ordering so long after us.
