Edit after owners response: Hi! Thanks for responding to my review! I believe that every story has two sides therefor I‘d like to present mine as you did. Regarding the noise, it was a little more quite than on the main road itself. I believe in your figures! The point I want to make is that it was still very noisy, so that the ad you had is not fulfilling the expectations to sit and have a drink while talking to each other not screaming. At least this was my expectation after seeing your big sign in front of the entrance. I do not fully agree with your explanation regarding pricing. You presented the menu, but without having a look we ordered two big Chang (as you only offer small size this is what we had to take and that’s absolutely fine). When you brought us the drinks and the receipt we saw the price and were very surprised in a not very positive way. Nevertheless you are right! We haven’t checked your menu which would clearly state your prices. As a result we of course paid our bill! There is no offence against you in this point! We haven’t looked in the menu as we already knew what we would like to order and as small beers cost usually around 80THB per piece (at least in the bars I have visited in Bangkok and in the rest of Thailand) I assumed your price to be on a similar level like +/- 20THB approximately. Definitely not 160THB per small beer! But without digging too deep in figures of your costs to run the business, I would like to raise the topic of prices. The bars next to you (Khaosan) serve Chang beer in the big size (0.62l) for 125THB per piece. Meaning that you as a customer get approx. double the amount of beer for a price of 250THB. In comparison we paid for two small size in your place 320THB at your place! That’s a huge difference! Your price per litre is 500THB Your neighbours serve for ~200THB You charge 2.5 times more. I understand the argument of covering costs and pay a premium for small size bottle plus being in a tourist spot, but your prices aren’t reasonable and therefor my review. I mentioned this to you directly at the bar that evening. Seems you didn’t fully understood what I’ve said regarding Germany. I told you that your price level is reaching the price level in Germany. Having said that, I strongly disagree in your statement of tourists from Europe just coming to Thailand because everything is so cheap and they don‘t want to accept to have also higher price levels. That is not true. But asking for such an extraordinary price premium is connected with an USP like a roof top bar with a view over the whole city, using special beverages or similar, making the bar special, you name it. I am pretty sure you know the places in Bangkok I speak about. I haven’t seen such USP in your bar which could explain the price gap to your surrounding bars. I doubt charging that price level can be reasonably explained by being a little less noisy. Regarding the „shyness“ of my gf. After I saw your review I asked her if my concern regarding the high price made her feel uncomfortable. The answer was no, she felt as I did regarding the noise level and the price. By the way I would really appreciate to have that talk with you personally, but not at that moment as I think we both were not really in the right mood to have a fact-based conversation as you obviously felt insulted by the comment regarding price level and I was upset about the high bill. Anyways, I feel your prices too high and therefor wanted to share my experience. I didn’t mean to insult you in any way. Lastly just a side note. This place is absolutely amazing and the complete opposite of the trashy khaosan road that everybody knows today. This newly opened treasure of a bar you might not see on the first look but it’s worth taking a second one. Because you will find a creative place with great cocktails (not the cheap buckets you will find anywhere else) and music that is always perfectly fitting the vibe. The Bar is beautifully decorated, everywhere is art and new things to discover. Lightshow on the wall included and a huge disco bowl that comes down from the high ceiling fitting to the drop of the music. The owner is one of the most loving and cute person of Bangkok, only there to make your evening special and to bring back the vibe of the „old“ Khaosan road. If you are in Bangkok and up for a drink, there is no place else that I would recommend! It deserves much more attention than it got so far, mostly because it’s new and NOT advertising with annoying girls that wave the menu in front of your face (thank you for that). I could write a lot more about this special place but you should just go and check it out yourself! One of da best bar experienced in my life. I went to his lil bar at Aree durin Covid 2020 after that the owner planned with his friends to built this freakin awesome bar here at KHAOSARN. Whatever those white pricks dick drunk head said just ignore it. Im not close or know the owner personnally but everytime I go to this bar all the staffs always nice. N u never know who is the owner cuz many times he/she will come and serve u, assist the drag queens for show, dim the lights, spot the lights to the queens, etc. Just go there and see it by urself.
