I recently dined at Chotivala Restaurant in Thailand, and the experience was a blend of satisfaction with a touch of disappointment. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with décor that offered a taste of traditional Indian culture. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well taken care of.
When it came to the food, the quality was impressive. Every dish, from the paneer tikka to the dal makhani, was packed with rich, authentic Indian flavors. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients tasted fresh and well-prepared, making for an overall enjoyable culinary experience.
The only downside was the portion sizes. While the flavors were spot-on, the quantity left much to be desired. For the price, the servings were quite small, which was a bit disappointing, especially for those with a bigger appetite.
All in all, Chotivala Restaurant is a fantastic spot for those seeking high-quality Indian food in Thailand, but just be aware that the portions might not be as generous as you'd hope. Great for a flavorful meal, but you may need to order extra to feel...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) – Good Vegetarian Food in Bangkok, But Can Be Better for the Price
Chotivala in Bangkok is a great relief for Indian vegetarians. You’ll find good-tasting vegetarian food, and the staff (mostly Indian) are polite and ask for customer feedback regularly, which is a nice gesture. Language is not a problem, and they also provide free Wi-Fi, which is a thoughtful service for travelers.
However, the taste is good but not quite like India, and the prices are almost double compared to similar restaurants in India. That’s understandable to some extent due to being abroad, but the quality and variety should improve to match the price charged.
Chotivala is currently one of the top vegetarian options in Bangkok, and I appreciate that they make it possible to get Indian veg food outside India. If they add something special in taste and experience, they can easily become the No.1 veg restaurant in the area.

Read moreA Disappointing Experience - I recently visited Chotivala with high expectations reading all the reviews, but it was quite disappointing. We ordered Mysore masala dosa and onion dosa, and the sambar tasted like yellow dal without any of the characteristic sambar flavour. It felt like eating dosa with plain dal, which is not what sambar should taste like. When we mentioned this to the management, they dismissively claimed, “this is how sambar tastes.” Having lived in India for 30 years, I know what Sambar tastes like.
Moreover, the dosa was excessively oily and unappetising. The only redeeming part of our meal was the coke we ordered, which sadly speaks volumes about the food quality.
Overall, the experience was far below our expectations. The food was a letdown, and the management’s indifferent attitude made it worse. We will not be returning to this restaurant and cannot...
