My friend and I sat upstairs and we felt like we were completely forgotten 😝 my first time here and I really was happy to finally come and try this place!
I arrived after my friend for a lunch meeting and when I got there there was no one to tell us what to do … meaning we were not given a menu, but apparently there’s a QR code which you can actually scan and then place your order on your table from the QR menu.
So after waiting more than a half an hour, I didn’t even get asked do I wanna coffee what we would like to order how to place the order we placed it in person because we’re sitting upstairs after half an hour to 45 minutes I finally said like what’s what’s the procedure? What do we do??
I went downstairs to place the order didn’t realize I had to pay right away because I left my phone upstairs and the online menu did not have certain extras that I had wanted to order but if you go downstairs order in person rather than online, apparently those items are available.
I had ordered coffee in a take a wake up, and I had also ordered the sliced German rye for take away as well! The girl brings my slice take bread away only in a bag and here I was thinking that they brought our sandwiches that we had ordered all together which, of course it wasn’t. It was just the take away Ryebread, but she didn’t bother to ask or tell us that it’s just the rye bread in the bag not your food.. anyway …
So then she brings my German rye on a plate, fully sliced the entire bread and I said no that’s not what we wanted we wanted that’s for take away…. Anyway, so much confusion over the order I don’t think the system works because there’s in person ordering at the counter and then there’s online ordering at your table. I think the stuff for thoroughly confused as well as the customers.!
Anyway, finally, we got our order I get my tunabasco sandwich 🥪, my friend ordered the Cubano melt sandwich 🥪 which came about 20 minutes or so later than my sandwich 🥪 plus I had ordered some fig and melon salad which came with the Cubano sandwich, which by the way was super delicious!
The food here is really quite good but the service in terms of the confusion of the counter, ordering and online ordering is left to be improved big time! The staff are super sweet and you can tell there isn’t a leader running this restaurant. The staff are all over the place very inexperienced.
I like the atmosphere it’s open it’s clean and it’s very nice!
Definitely try this place out when it’s not too busy although when we were there, it was not that busy and they were still massive confusion!

Read moreSadly 1 star because this place should have 4 stars. Here is why. Once you enter, there is staff everywhere, however, nobody cares to tell you if you should go straight to order or sit, or what's going on. Chased a waiter to ask, they sent us up. They found a table just in front of the AC - felt like antarctic winter with hurricane. We asked to adjust the AC, they tried but to no help. Dear owner, I am sure you know issue. Having fancy place you should handle this. We asked another waiter to change table, got one at the end. He sat us there but saw that the table was dirty with plates and did not bother to clean it. We waited another 10 min until another waiter cleaned the table. In the meantime, yet already 3rd waiter came and told us we will be kicked out from our table if a family with kids come because we are in kids zone. We told him we were told by restaurant staff to sit here, so how come they tell us now that we might be kicked out? Anyway, 15 min in the place already, waiving at quickly passing waiters, finally somebody kind enough to stop by. Can we have menu please? No, scan QR code... Here is a big no - if I would like to play my phone 24/7 I would not go out. We asked for paper menu. They brought and disappeared. Once we chose food, another challenge - let's order. Same as always, poorly trained staff does not look around and nobody comes... (Hey, manager, do you even bother to train your waiters? yes, it's your role in any restaurant to train staff - I am not blaiming waiters here, just you.) Ok, waiving and waving we got attention, we want to order. Uhm, you cannot, sorry. Only through QR code and pay online or go down and order at register. Wow, what a treat! Will I have to make my own food as well? At the register, again... ages passed but I managed to order. Of course we are told it's 20-30 min wait... Ok - we have been warned. So after already 45 min in restaurant comes coffee. Then some other stuff we did not order so we decline. Yet again somebody's else stuff... And there we go - our food. Tasty at least. So, dear owner, dear manager - did you plan to organize your place this way? Or you just set up high prices and don't care anymore because you survive on some good comments and little competition from similar places? If you charge a lot, you should show respect to your customers through good service, and the amount of mishaps we experienced is not an accident - you need to rethink how you serve...
Read moreI’ve always loved sourdough, but sustaining the little monster when I don’t bake so often is a nightmare. So I was delighted when I found this place in the neighbourhood where I was doing a short term residency.
Lots has been written about the food, so there wasn’t any surprise. The sourdough bread in made on site, and with the volume that’s being moved, you know it’s fresh. I tried the coconut latte which is basically latte with coconut cream. It’s savoury but can get heavy. Try it if you haven’t tried it before. I had the flat white with breakfast, and I’m pleased that it wasn’t too milky, and the coffee was well balanced. No hint of acidity, thankfully. But what is the deal of serving dine in coffee in paper cups? The tactile experience is important too
Facilities wise, it’s beautifully constructed, comprising 2 floors, but I don’t like the window seats on the second floor because the view is just obscured by the ubiquitous hanging power cables. If you don’t need a window seat, it’s a nice place. I’ve always chosen to sit near the counter where I can watch the action, and that brings me to the second part of the review: the service
Sadly, most of the crew have an aura of “I’m cool as fxxk working here, so I’m gonna give you that vibe”. The first time I’d tried to order, I stood waiting while the staff standing at the POS held her phone to her face typing away, until another staff came along to take my order. It’s basic courtesy to ask the customer to please wait if you are indeed attending to something urgent on the phone. I’d also noticed a discrepancy in the way the staff treat different profiles of customers. This observation is based on several visits. Food and drinks are placed on the table by surly staff, while certain groups are treated with wide smiles, and extra attention.
Sadly, this place thinks that a hip quotient and good enough food will take it far. Perhaps. But the appetite is built when the diner is feeling happy, and treating a customer based on your mood or profile, isn’t...
