Banyan Tree Vertigo Bar and restaurant : ||A truly disappointing experience at Vertigo Bar and restaurant , Banyan Tree, Bangkok.||Arriving in Bangkok in rainy season can be particularly challenging for the many restaurants and bars overlooking the city and we experienced one such event with this hotel and restaurant booking Saturday night 31st May 2025.||On arrival at 6.45pm at Vertigo we were advised that because of rain the outdoor terrace was closed and we would be seated inside on the lower floor.||The lower floor position was in a raised corner location on top of other guests who were too close for comfort. Then we have to manage communication with a group of singers and musicians who were far too loud to such an extent I could not even hear my partner comfortably. If we were at a rock concert it might have been fine had the singer had a quality voice and the sound system was of quality but neither was the case.|Then to order amidst discomfort in the seating , everyone and the noise on top of us! ordering was a challenge with a premium menu and wine list at significant prices! |The ongoing noise after ordering our three course meal was a challenge so We complained seeking the GM of the restaurant and hotel ! Really uncomfortable paying premium prices and the noise was horrific. |Very delayed wine and service delivery because I believe they wanted to move us to another location which we were not prepared to do! |The drinks on arrival were of quality and should have been white and red wine for starters and maincourse but the food lobster steak and duck and accompaniments were disappointing were over cooked and with the noise of the live group with poor sound and the inability to communicate comfortably were quite a challenge.|I complained to the GM of the restaurant multiple times our disappointment and he listened and compensated us with free drinks and a sincere apology.|Vertigo is meant to be one of the best restaurants in Bangkok but our experience was disappointing driven by the weather and also a poor quality of sound over crowding and no consideration to premium service in a world class restaurant supposedly. |I will not boat this restaurant again despite incentives to do so unless the weather is perfect and significant changes are made to the format. I also would wish to ensure super premium cooking and not over cooking of premium dishes at super premium prices in world terms! |Please review the needs of your customers who are probably exceptionally discerning with expectations too! |Pat Pattamadong V/G - appreciate your efforts and care but it had already become too late with the dreadful situation we found ourselves in - a top restaurant of the world should be better and act quicker to customer feedback when the issues are loud clear and apparent! |The Banyan Tree sets high expectations globally of delighting the customer but unfortunately failed on all counts on this occasion and shall make me question another experience anywhere in the...

Really high class and luxury hotel who try to go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We stayed in a wellness retreat room for 3 nights. Room was large relaxing and the bathtub had an amazing view over the beautiful city. Shower was large and good quality also. What I did like was the extra touches the hospitality staff did, room cleaning took place twice daily with the bed made and drinks, snacks left each time they really do some nice touches which make you feel special.

There are a few negatives. And I think for the price you have to be critical -

*Check in took quite a while and it wasn't exactly busy. *Pool is very small for the amount of guests and everytime I looked all beds were taken. *Prices for spa treatments were extreme. Looking around 6000baht for 90 min treatment. Way too much in my opinion. *Rooftop bar is amazing with some of the best views you will ever experience. However it gets extremely busy to the point where you can't move. They should restrict the amount of people who go there. *We also had a table in the restaurant and were not that impressed with the food. It was ok but nothing special. *Our room keys were an issue 3 times during 3 night stay. *Breakfast was really nice and plenty of choice but you have to wait again due to the size of the hotel and breakfast area. There is an alternative breakfast on another floor.

Positives - *Our room was luxurious. *Staff throughout were great and attentive including helping with advice for the city and changing bookings. *The hotel is large but has an excellent lift system which means you are never waiting long. There is also separate lifts for the roof bar etc. *Cleanliness and care taken by the staff in our room was outstanding. *Has one of the best roof top bars in the world. *Motorbike, tuk tuk or other taxis easily available outside the hotel. *Breakfast was good quality once you got a table.

Overall a really pleasant stay. I haven't stayed at any of the other 5 stars in BKK but we really enjoyed this one and thank you to the...

I Can’t say enough good things about the Banyan Tree. Pay for a club level room and enjoy extraordinary perks as well as a nice room with good view. Every day on the club level, they offer free beer all day and a happy hour with free small appies and a featured cocktail. Included breakfast is possibly the best offering we’ve had anywhere. Extensive selection of fruits, meats, cheeses, Asian food, breads, noodle soups and cooked to order omelettes.

Lobby is impressive with piano music and separate elevator banks for club rooms. Rooftop restaurants include one Thai, one Chinese and one western style contemporary. We loved the Thai restaurant but the Chinese one could’ve been better. Didn’t want to pay high prices for Vertigo which is the most expensive one which has dress code that we never want to abide by on vacation in tropical locations. Lots of young people come there to party on weekends however if that’s your thing.

Large pool is outside on the 21st floor along with a big 24 hour fitness center and spa. The pool gets quite crowded but they’ll try to find more chairs for you and will serve drinks to you poolside. We don’t pay for overpriced hotel spas because in Thailand you can get one for one tenth the cost anywhere but it looks quite nice if you enjoy pampering

Our Room was very comfortable and relatively spacious for an Asian city for a decent price. Beds are quite comfy, shower is awesome and amenities are good. Excellent city view

The Hotel is centrally located near major malls and other major attractions can be easily reached by public transit that’s walkable. Avoid taxis and driving anywhere at all costs on weekday afternoons as you’ll literally be late for your dinner reservation.

Best part is probably the staff who will go above and beyond to help with anything. They even let us enjoy free breakfast on the day we arrived which was late morning after a 16 hour flight even though the room wouldn’t be ready for awhile. Five star service and...

I and my family booked three rooms and one of rooms was for my sister and her two children. But somehow these rooms are so tiny that extra bed that we have requested wasn’t able to be placed in the room or living room. so my sister ended up sleeping on the couch in living room separately from her children because they simply and apathetically rejected my request of complimentary upgrade at least for the room with children, saying we have to pay 2,900BTH for the upgrade. I didn’t even know this hotel has such small rooms because i never seen this size before. I had always booked the average room and the room was big enough all the other times. That’s why i didn’t expect such situation. I understand the room upgrade is up to you people’s decision but i doubt if you really had to do this unkindness to me and my family since it’s been already the fourth visiting. I chose this hotel because i wanted my family to experience good stays as i did before for the last day of trip in Thailand. (even though your swimming pool is the smallest i’ve ever seen.) I am not being picky because of rejection for the upgrade but these small rooms have very bad condition as well. The outlets are so old that they don’t get plugged well with chargers. Also water comes out of shower booth a lot when there is no drain hole on the floor. That explains why they put three towels on the bathroom floor and it’s not even enough. Toilet and sink are dirty too. Windows have dirty stains on them. The thing to insert the card key got broken by just push down the card in it. Everything is so old and out of average condition. I am honestly glad to know the service quality of your hotel before i start booking the hotel for the next month trip. There are countless accommodations with much better condition, service and even cheaper price in Bangkok. Thanks.

What a terrible stay experience! I paid for a 4-night stay at Banyan Tree for a total of 22,410 Thai Baht (1,200 RMB per night), but was assigned to a standard room. After checking the bathroom, I found it was not suitable and asked the front desk to change the room. I encountered extremely bad service! Since my English is not very good, I wanted to find someone who could speak Chinese to communicate. A staff member named JUNE came, and her service attitude was extremely bad. She told me that I couldn't change the room! Throughout the process, I didn't receive any smile, only contempt and eye-rolling. She informed me that changing the room would require an additional charge of 3,000 Thai Baht (700 RMB) per night, which means an extra 2,800 RMB for 4 nights. So the cost for one night would be nearly 2,000 RMB! However, I found out that the price for the upgraded room type on the hotel booking platform was only 1,100 RMB per night. Since I had already paid 1,200 RMB per night, it was obviously unreasonable to ask me to pay extra for a cheaper room type. This is clearly taking advantage of the information gap of foreigners! It's really disgusting! The staff member JUNE provided particularly bad service throughout. She rolled her eyes, was sarcastic, and showed a discriminatory attitude towards Chinese people!! Such an employee really damages the hotel's image! Finally, the manager came out and solved the problem of the room type, and changed the room type for free. Thank you, the manager who helped me. This stay was a very bad experience. I never expected that such an outrageous fraud would occur in a global luxury hotel group. No matter what kind of reservation it is, every guest should be treated appropriately. This experience was disappointing and did not reflect the service level I expected.
