Loving this recently opened Filipino restaurant. The restaurant itself is very cosy, and have indoor & outdoor seatings. They offer a wide selection of Filipino dishes including desserts. The place itself is packed on Saturday night, and it’s better to have reservation prior to going. For starters, they gave complimentary Toasted Pandesal with Chicken Liver Pâté and Chicken Adobo Flakes & Garlic. The pandesal has a nice crisp to it, and has a light texture with some sweet flavour. It goes really well with the pâté, and the chicken adobo flakes just give the needed texture and also boosting the overall taste. Tried the Chicken Lumpia Shanghai, which is also one of my must have when eating Filipino food. The minced chicken is nicely seasoned, and the lumpia is fried to a golden brown color. Also the great thing about it is that it’s not oily at all. It was served with a sweet & spicy chili sauce which give that nice extra kick. For the mains, ordered some classic dish. Sinigang Shrimp, which comes in a clay pot over fire, has a subtle sour taste coming from tamarind. The shrimp is fresh and it has loads of vegetables (kangkong, green bean, eggplant, okra & tomatoes). Chicken Inasal, a 24 hour marinated grilled chicken was also yummy. The chicken meat is tender and it absorbs the marinade well. Loving the charred chicken skin part as well. It was served with a soy sauce based sauce, pickle & kalamansi. Also got the Bangus Sisig, a fried milk fish topped with onion and fried chicken liver. Super loving the Sisig! As for the desserts, got the Leche Flan & Sans Rival. The flan was dense and has a nice balance of flavour with the caramel. As for the Sans Rival cake, it is a meringue layer cake, with buttercream & peanut. So goooood! And for the drinks, got the Iced Tea Mansi, which is a version of lemon tea which they used kalamansi instead. It was so refreshing. Also got takeaway of Ensaymada & Pandesal. The breads are done nicely with a very soft texture. The team at Kalamansi Kafe is very attentive & kind. A...

Their pampagana (appetizer) is so heavily influenced by the west but still had a solid Filipino twist to it, I knew I was in for a treat!
So I ordered lumpiang ubod, good for maybe 5 or 6 people I had to bring them home and stuff myself with it just not to put good food to waste. It was just the way authentic lumpiang ubod should be.
Of course I will order adobo, and I always judge a Filipino restaurant by the way the make their adobo. This was a different take than I’m used to, but still perfect! I was so happy the adobo’s egg was a bit runny! Love the sauce too, just the right amount of tangy, salty, and umami!
The taste of the grilled pork intestines just brings you back home. I can’t have enough of it! Marinated for what it seems like eternity and charred to perfection!
For the panghimagas (dessert), I would have opted for halo-halo but I was craving for mangoes (and Thai mangoes are second-best to Philippine mangoes) so I just had to try the mango float! And it was just the right amount and taste for me!
My only regret was that I was traveling alone. Had I been with a group, I would have tried more of their food. Filipino cuisine is meant for sharing.
Lastly, shoutout to the staff. Truly showcasing the best of Filipino hospitality. ❤️

Read moreKalamansi Kafe is a quiet air conditioned retreat from the Bangkok heat mid day. The Filipino food is excellent and not overly salty. The flavors are just right. The service is friendly and the staff makes you feel right at home. The meal started with a complimentary pate and fried garlic on toasted sweet bread while we looked over the extensive full day menu. Menu contained Apps, Salads, Entrees, set Meals, Meats, Veggies, Desserts, Beverages, and items for you to prepare your own meals at home. We went with the Calamari Frites, Lumpia, and Morning Glory. The calamari was fried just right, crispy with tender flesh, served with a quarter of kalamansi citrus and aoli. The stack of pork lumpia were fried golden brown served with the standard sweet garlic chili sauce. The sauteed morning glory with garlic and chili was cooked just right. All the food arrived hot and cooked perfectly. The Filipino menu is intriguing with all the variations of flavors to definitely try out on my return visit. Do not be afraid to try this place out, the prices are reasonable and each ordered portion will easily be enough for 2-3 people eating together. The very welcoming waiter will help with suggestions to make your meal memorable. This is a hidden gem in the mist of all the flavors of Bangkok. Crispy Pata. Pork binagon, kare kare,...
