At first, we ordered 3 dishes including the Velvet Egg & Bacon. Later on, the server came to our table and told us the the Velvet dish would take around 1 hour, and we were fine with it, so we insisted on waiting. A little bit later, the waitress came back again and told us that they can no longer serve the dish due to the lack of ingredient. We then ordered another dish to replace the Velvet Egg & Bacon. Then after a few minutes, we asked them if they really cannot make the Velvet dish for us and to recheck again because we really wanted to try the dish. They came back and told us that they can make the dish for us, which we were really thankful for; hence, the two stars for the service, and told them to cancel the extra dish we ordered which was the Salmon Truffle scrambled egg. We then proceeded with our meal and paid the bill. A week later, partly my fault for not checking in the first place, I checked the list of items on the bill and found out that they charged us for the Salmon Truffle scrambled egg that we asked to cancel and they told us that they did it for us. It was too late to do anything so the only thing I can do is writing this review and warn others to check they bill thoroughly before paying because the staff here are apparently incompetent.
Moreover during the same seating, we also order a dish of steak with their special sauce, it was the special menu then. The waiter then came to tell us that the kitchen were out of the special sauce, so we changed our order to the normal steak with eggs and fries instead. After all the commotion with the Velvet Egg & Bacon, out of nowhere, the waiter came with the steak with the special sauce in his hand and served it to us. We were surprised and confused of what happen and returned the dish to the kitchen as we were not expecting to be serve the dish.
In conclusion, from the two stories I have told, I concluded that the staff here are not good at communicating with the customers. They charged us extra for the dish we cancelled and served us the food they told us they cannot make. We were already not very satisfy with what happen and what make me even more angry is that I found out they overcharge us...
Read moreFinally managed to check out this place. Reservations are a bit hard to get but they do offer walk-ins as well. It has been opened for several months now, and still going strong. Also despite seeing many review about the slow service, actually when I visited it was fast enough. For the food, got a bunch of stuffs. Tried 3 Open Faced Sandwich (Fig & Iberico Ham, Beef Tartare, and Velvet Egg & Bacon). All was executed nicely. The thick slice of sourdough bread, toasted until crunchy but still soft, and the topping is plenty. Got the Fran’s Avocado Breakfast, which has literally everything. Egg, avocado, smoked salmon, bacon, salad, & english muffin. Again, it was delish & portion definitely shareable. Also got the Steak & Eggs. It was so good. The steak is perfectly cooked medium and so tender. Goes well with the runny sunny side up egg & sweet potato fries. To wash it all down, got the iced americano and heart beet juice (beet, guava, apple, & pineapple). Lastly, for desserts, unfortunately it’s not it for me. They recommended Sticky Toffee Pudding and Dirty Chocolate Cake. Which we got and also another one of Apple & Berry Crumble. The toffee pudding is too airy, and has a cakey texture. The dirty chocolate cake tasted like a cold lava cake, and not chocolatey enough despite the appearance. For the apple berry crumble, it’s just a bit ordinary and might need some spice to enhance the flavor, also the upper crust is too pale. But overall it was a nice place to eat. Definitely will go back again for their savory dishes. The place is also comfy & nice to just...
Read moreI couldn’t be paid to visit this place again, please read three points of review below:
Food actually should be better for the money, as the menu is severely overpriced for “fairly good” food. So the food isn’t bad by any means, but I’m positive that everyone has paid WAY less for better food. Overall in terms of value, it’s just not worth it.
Service seems to be SEVERELY lacking (only some of the staffs, most of them are actually really cool). The host (in charge of bringing us to the table) skipped our name for half an hour as we were left waiting. If we never stood up to ask her I think we’d still be sitting at the waiting area to this day. Think about how furious I was to see her flicking through her list of guests trying to find my name, clueless to when I even came. (Bonus restaurant crime: a waiter spilled food as he was walking by us, while splattering food particles through the fan all over my friend’s face and into her eyes, he never even bothered to check or apologize. 🤷🏻♂️ The bare minimum mannerism is too much to ask for? Train your staffs to be better. This is not a street food venue.
The atmosphere is actually really cozy and relaxing I have to admit. It’s warm, clean, and well-managed but after all that buzzkill it’s just not worth the visit. Plus, the wait for food is way too long due to the surge of customers.
I hope you can find my feedback constructive and improve on the issues written above.
To the readers who have never been here, good luck I hope they won’t keep you waiting an...
