Been here millions of times and still my favourite place to eat Thai authentic cuisine.
Food: The food is prepared in a kitchen which is hidden like the Crown Jewels. It is really authentic and gives you a taste you will not forget easily. Better than most Michelin-star restaurants, Green Leaf gives you a taste of expertise and the streets of Bangkok. Normally, if you’re visiting Thailand, you should only eat street food but Green Leaf is something you have to visit. Their ice cream is also amazing.
Service: The service ladies (yes, all of them are women. Not a single man, except for probably the chef(s)) wear these green-white dresses that are really annoying to look at and don’t know Thai very well themselves. They don’t come to take the order or ask if anything’s good- they just stare while you eat, make jokes about you (when we went there for the first time, we conversed in English when we knew Thai fluently and caught them red-handed. We even responded in Thai once to see them turn as red as a tomato). They tell the chef if the customer has any problems, and even change your dish if you’re lucky.
Atmosphere: Unfortunately, i don’t have photos but the main theme is green. The washrooms are more decorated than the interior. There is a glass tabletop on top of the table which spins do everyone can pick what they want themselves and let the others eat in peace. They also have a small bakery counter and a set of stairs that lead upstairs but nobody goes there. The ice cream’s also incredibly tasty.
Recommended dishes: Egg Fried Rice, Yam Thua Fu, Tahu, ‘fish on fire soup’ (not really the name) and more… (definitely the ice cream)
To wrap it all up, I really love this restaurant and visit every time l come. Definitely recommended.
p.s. they have way more specialties than only...
Read moreAfter a long day of walking around The Grand Palace and then Wat Arun temple, we came across Green Leaf Restaurant by chance. Thankfully it was worth it. This is a real typical Bangkok restaurant in my opinion. Very clean, quiet, friendly with awesome food. The women who run ( I think women in general run Thailand) were very nice and extremely understanding of my partners Vegetarian food habits. All the dishes we ordered were great in terms of simple, yet delicate flavours with beautiful presentation. The last course ie; the dessert was special as the restaurant has a separate dessert section with a wide variety of options. My strong recommendation for any one in the visiting Wat Arun or in that vicinity to give this place a try. It is a great representative of Thai cuisine &...
Read moreThe food was okay. Not bad, but not the best either. However, the service was atrocious. The waitress probably said less than 5 words to us the entire time. Maybe she didn't speak English, and that is fine, but didn't make any attempt to communicate. She dropped off food in passing, not even glancing at us or even stopping for a second. She literally put down the plate with one hand and just kept going. Not even a hint of a smile . Looked like we were bothering her for being there. I don't remember the last time I felt so unwelcomed at...
