If you’re looking for a place that serves up some of the best unpretentious grilled meats in Istanbul, look no further than Adana Ocakbasi. This old school grill house is a must-visit for anyone who loves juicy, flavorful meat cooked to perfection over charcoal.
The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Adana kebab. Made with ground lamb and beef, this kebab is seasoned to perfection and grilled over charcoal until it’s juicy and tender. The meat is so flavorful and fatty that it practically melts in your mouth, and the charred flavor from the grill adds an extra layer of deliciousness.
But this place isn’t just about the kebabs. They also have a variety of other meats on offer, all cooked to perfection over charcoal. Whether you’re in the mood for some succulent lambs liver and other offals, chicken tawouk and wings you won’t be disappointed.
The atmosphere at Adana Grill House is simple and to the point. Here it is all about the meat and the seating for maybe 30 is going to be tight so big groups be warned. There is beer and raki which are good traditional complements to the meal.
Overall, if you’re looking for the best representation of Adana kebab without a lot of fuss and a satisfying Turkish barbecue fix, this is the place to...
Read moreWe went completely out of our way to come to this place after seeing it on a YouTube food blog. We expected it to be in the location it was and to be a hole in the wall with really good food. Box checked there.
They definitely know how to grill meat, the problem is if you are a tourist they see you coming and proceed to completely rip you off.
We sat down and ordered for kebabs for four people thinking that would be more than enough along with a side yogurt cucumber dip and a salad.
For starters, they brought each kebab separately and spaced 10 minutes apart... on top of that, the portions were literally child sized and nothing like some of the photos we have seen. Each of us only getting two small bites of each kind of kebab. Then of course they forgot our yogurt dip and when we asked for it the waiter brought us a large bowl of plain yogurt. We tried to explain we simply wanted what we had ordered to begin with but with the complete lack of even basic English, this was a task.
Bottom line… The meat was definitely delicious, I just wished I had not left hungry and feeling completely ripped off. If you are a tourist, don’t bother with this place… You are bound to be...
Read moreI’ve tried many times this place. It is considered one of the best places among the local chefs. We went yesterday night since its next to our apartment. It was full!! All times i’ve been there was also full, that means it’s good. We went for a fast kebap service. Simce it was so crowded there wasnt any place left, only infront of the ocakbaşi (grill) . We ‘ re chefs so thats an experience for us, even though it’s hot as hell. We’ve had adana kebab and çop şiş. As a side dish also ordered the ezme salad and the soğan kebap. Everything was delicious, you can say they are really profesionals and they know what they’re doing. The ustas were also so kind and they serve you directly from behing the grill, they ask you how is it, would you like something else. It is not as cheap as other places but it sure worth it. They also have a short menu but with many interesting things such as lamb sweetbreads kebap or the buffalo balls. Everytime we come to Istanbul it’s a sure...
