As a local, I took my foreign guests (twice) here ten years apart, last time was in 2018. Huge mistake. Both times I was disappointed and embarrassed taking guests to an expensive fish place that was practically on the sea, yet they didn't know how to cook / serve fish. That's mainly a nation wide problem that restaurants employ only men -cooks and waiters- who never cooked or served at their homes since childhood. But if you pay a lot of money then you expect some decency. One time the fish was over grilled and dry inside because fish was slashed (common mistake) other time guests ordered turbot fish which was served in very small pieces and deep fried losing all its taste and flavour. Wine was awful, the waiter didn't even know how to hold the bottle. Poured our glasses to the brim! Naturally spilled it while taking a sip. Never seen such bad service and average food with such high prices . Just a quick note for the resto: Never slash across the fish if you cannot handle the grilling. The skin of the fish protects its juices like a jacket. Do not over grill fish and/or meat! The food is for the customers not for the cooks who like their meat/fish over cooked and...
Read moreWe chose for a family dinner as it has a good view over the Bosporous and seemed a nice place. We agreed a set menu a couple of days before which included swapping mussels for other option and assured this wasn’t a problem. On arrival found waiters to be rude and ignorant clearing plates before some had finished previous course and even put the next course on dirty plates. The requested change then was apparently ‘not available’ and were served mussels even though we specifically requested not to be and another option was downgraded to just olives. Some of the portions were a joke (2 pieces of calamari each for example ) and finally a fish which was okay but clearly quite cheap and what is more not oven cooked as requested. Served sickly dessert we were not consulted on and not as expected and were not able to provide anything other than Turkish coffee of Turkish tea at the end. When it came to paying the bill they claimed we had taken 5 extra drinks (a party of 10) when in fact we had less than the allowance of 2 drinks each. Overall, deceitful, extremely rude, poor quality and liars - there are far better places so avoid...
Read moreThis is a wonderful restaurant located right on the water. We stayed at the Conrad Hilton which was just a short walk down towards the river. The first floor is a seafood restaurant with fish so fresh I think they were swimming that morning. Our waiter recommended some Meza small appetizers which were delicious. We added a green salad and tried the local fish. Everything was delicious and the presentations were wonderful.
The next night we ended up back at the restaurant but to try the meat menu which is on the second floor. I tried the lamb and pistachio kebab which was amazing. Others in our group tried the mix grill and the chicken kebab. Everyone really enjoyed their meal.
You can use your credit card to pay for dinner, but tips must be paid in cash. Make sure you have the local currency before arriving at the restaurant.
I would highly recommend coming here anytime you are visiting Istanbul. You will have a wonderful meal and...
