Last week, I had a strange experience at this café. I was in Istanbul for a few days, and their Wi-Fi network wouldn’t send a password to my Hungarian number. I needed to work and take care of some urgent matters, so I specifically chose this café for its Wi-Fi.
Before placing my order, I asked the cashier if I would be able to connect to the network and mentioned that if not, I would go to another café. She assured me that she could share her personal Wi-Fi and then actually did so from her phone. I placed and paid for my order.
However, my drink was served in a takeaway cup without even asking whether I planned to stay or leave. When I told her that I didn’t want to drink hot chocolate from a cardboard cup, she simply poured it into a regular cup. I decided to let it go.
Five minutes later, the Wi-Fi disconnected. When I asked what had happened, the cashier said it was her personal network and that it had simply turned off. I asked her to turn it back on, but she replied that she had only shared it so I could pay for my order and that she wouldn’t reconnect me. This was strange, as I had clearly stated from the beginning that I was there for the Wi-Fi.
A conflict arose: I asked to speak to the manager, but the cashier claimed there was no manager, even though I had just seen one leaving the room. On top of that, she started telling me to leave the café. A few minutes later, the manager finally appeared and helped resolve the situation by connecting me to the Wi-Fi, for which I’m grateful.
However, the unpleasant experience remained. Throughout the situation, the cashier kept arguing, raised her voice, and acted extremely unprofessionally. This kind of service is unacceptable, and such behavior clearly does not meet...

I visited Café Kronotop recently, and while the coffee quality was decent, the service left a lot to be desired. Upon entering, I stood waiting at the counter while the cashier finished her chores, without even acknowledging my presence or saying hello. It felt unwelcoming from the start.
I ordered a flat white and an almond espresso. I had to locate the card machine on my own, wasn’t offered a receipt, and didn’t even receive a spoon for the coffee. To make matters worse, I noticed another couple walk in and quickly leave, likely due to the same dismissive attitude. I should have followed their lead.
Unfortunately, it seems this café does not prioritize making non-Turkish visitors feel welcomed. While the coffee is okay, the lack of basic courtesy from the staff makes it a place I wouldn’t recommend. There are plenty of other cafés where both the coffee and the service...
Read moreCool coffee shop located in the Karaköy area of Istanbul. Funky hip area with many coffee shops. Clean. Loved the music. Limited seating indoors and outdoors. The energy ball was nice and the coffee was really good. I drink a lot of coffee and I can say that this was a perfect americano. Good range of drinks but a limited selection of cakes, pastries and savoury items. Go for the coffee if anything. Staff were pleasant but not that friendly. This coffee shop was a lot quieter than others. I think the reason being was that their wifi did not work! I would have sat longer but needed wifi being out all day and travelling. My plan was to have a coffee and catch up on emails! Had I known the wifi was not working, I would have thought twice. It was nice to enjoy the coffee, music and vibe though. I believe they have a few branches. Would recommend if you like a good...
