We had a very bad experience with rooftop galata in Istanbul. I went there with my aunt who wanted a photoshoot. She had and appointment at 4:00, but once we were there there’s was a long line of people waiting, when you make a reservation you expect to go there and be alone and have a good time, but we ended up waiting for hours.

When finally it’s our turn for the photoshoot, and it’s time to take the video (we took a full package with videos) the photographer says to me: « hand me your phone for the video », for the price you pay, i expect at least a professional videographer not for you to ask for my phone. At that point we were still calm about the whole situation.

Once we go to the roof to take in infamous picture with birds, the one we basically booked this photoshoot for, they tell us that maybe it won’t be possible because the sun was setting and told us to come back tomorrow, to which we say that we couldn’t because our flight was early tomorrow, we shouldn’t even be told to come back, your lack of organization shouldn’t impact my photoshoot which was BOOKED.

Anyway we kept calm at this point, so we wait in line for our turn ( it was around 7:30 at this point) during the time we were waiting, workers came back and forth telling us that we should take the picture tomorrow even though we said we couldn’t.

When finally came our turn, one of the photographers was extremely rude and disrespectful, he decided to let other people go before us, even though their appointment was scheduled at 5:00 PM (the lady herself confirmed this to us!). So not only were we ignored, but other customers were prioritized over us without any valid reason.

When i expressed our surprise to the manager had a very arrogant attitude, showing absolutely no respect toward me (for reference my aunt doesn’t speak English, so i was the one speaking) He did offer a good alternative, with proposing to pay for our taxi to continue the photoshoot tomorrow, but once again we had our flight. When I was trying to explain our frustration to him, he first wouldn’t let me talk and spoke with my aunt who as I said doesn’t speak English, which I tried to tell him. As I was telling him to speak to me instead he screamed in my face : « AND HOW OLD ARE YOU », mind you I am 19 years old, even if I was 10 I deserve the respect because I came here with my money, I’m a client first. I screamed back my age, then he viciously told me that I wouldn’t be translating to MY aunt, and asked one the workers to do so. Doesn’t matter the persons age you show them respect.

We came full of excitement, ready to live a beautiful experience and create nice memories, but instead, I was treated as if we were second-class clients. No organization, no politeness, no professionalism at all. We were blatantly disrespected.

Because of this poor organization and the lack of basic respect, what was supposed to be a joyful and fun experience turned into a frustrating and disappointing one. Instead of feeling welcomed and valued, we felt ignored and mistreated.

Honestly, If you’re looking for a pleasant, professional, and respectful photo shoot experience, avoid this place. Don’t waste your time, money, or energy here.
