This is one tiny restaurant that has attracted us again and again with their great food, very reasonable prices and amazing flavor.
Tonda, the lady at the desk speaks little English. But we got around with google translate to customize the dishes for us.
Two days ago when we came here for the first time, we ordered bamboo curry and stir fried basil chicken.
Today we came back all the way from Fathi area and we ordered the stir fried basil chicken and the green curry (but with vegetables) along with a Thai tea.
Both the days the food was excellent. While we were there we saw a big group of Thai speaking people arrive and settle town for dinner. I asked for their comments on their food and they said it tastes like food from back home in Thailand. They seemed to enjoy their food as well.
The restaurant has about has about 8 tables and very basic/modest ambience. But who cares about the ambiance when the food tastes this good.
We loved it and were happy we made the trek a second time to enjoy some good Thai food. Definitely make an effort to try their dishes.
After food, next door, there is an old gentleman who has a small shop and sells tea and snacks. Does not speak English. But has a large heart and is very kind. If you want to support his business, have a Turkish tea from his shop - which costs 5 Turkish Lira. He was so kind that when we asked for which way to the tram line Kabatas station, his friend would not just show us the way, but walked and led us to the station. Such good heart and genuine kindness should not be forgotten, hence I added this bit in this review for the Thai restaurant.
Our stomachs and hearts were filled to the brim as we left the...

We’re from NYC and have had our fair share of delicious Thai cuisines (personal favorite is pad woon sen). After exploring and eating our way through Istanbul, we wanted something different and found Tomyum Taksim, which is conveniently located off Taksim Square. The Penang curry was delectable and their chicken soup is perfect if you need something more balanced for your stomach.
Is it the best Thai food we’ve ever had? Of course not, but the dishes were unmistakably authentic Thai (vs. other Asian restaurants in Istanbul that try to pass instant noodles as “traditional”). This is definitely worth visiting if you want something non-Turkish as a palate cleanser between durums.
The staff was friendly and the family-owned atmosphere is very apparent. When I told them I wanted the beef noodle soup because my stomach was hurting, they suggested I have the chicken soup instead! Also… unlike many restaurants in Istanbul, their service charge is a flat 30TL (vs. 10% elsewhere). Definitely would come back next time we’re...
Read moreWent here for dinner last night. Its a bit of a hole-in-the-wall type of vibe, had to look for it a bit. Despite being located in taksim, the place is pretty quiet. It’s cute and quaint and great for a chill spot to eat. Also, theres wifi available for those who need it!
The food was fantastic - i ordered the tom yum soup with shrimp, fresh rolls, and shrimp pad thai. Everything came out delicious and plated beautifully. The flavors were really nice and felt super authentic which is no surprise as i think the family running the establishment are Thai. I finished it off with a glass of Thai tea which was also very good and not overly sweet.
I think price wise its on par with other places that serve non-turkish food. The serving sizes were also quite large and i got a good bit of protein (shrimp in this case) in each dish, so i think its priced fairly.
Also, the ladies working there are super friendly:)
Overall its worth the visit!...
