Taksim Sütiş — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

We decided to try this restaurant for desserts as our usual choice, HM, was too crowded.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be a big mistake. The service was lackluster, and the staff seemed uninterested from the start. Without asking, they added extra items to our dish, then blamed a "communication gap" as an excuse. When the four of us initially sat at a table for six, the server rudely rushed over, treating us like we’d made a mistake and were children, insisting that we move to a smaller table. We understand that the staff might be under stress from management, so this could have been a one-off incident, but it made us feel uncomfortable nonetheless.

We ordered Baklava and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was average, as expected from a non-Italian establishment. However, we were shocked by the poor quality of the Baklava; it tasted stale, and the pistachio left a bad aftertaste. Only one of the baklavas was edible, which confirmed for us that the rest was simply stale. In fact, a local grocery store, Migros, offers fresher Baklava than this restaurant.

We decided to pay and leave without causing a scene but asked for the service charge to be removed. Our request was rudely denied, with the staff stating it was a "tax." When we questioned whether it was an actual government tax, they deflected, again blaming the "communication gap." The manager eventually intervened, telling us to "just pay it, it’s a small amount." Upon asking where the service charge was mentioned on the menu, we were first told children had peeled off the sticker, and then shown a menu where it stated, that “VAT is included in our prices.” However, VAT in Turkey is a government tax, and it was unclear how much this charge was or why it was being applied as a service fee.

In the end, we were forced to pay an additional 100 liras on a 500-lira bill, with no clear explanation. Given the poor service, stale desserts, and dodgy practices around billing, we understand why the restaurant was nearly empty. From the moment I stepped foot in the door, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The owner personally welcomed me and made me feel right at home. Throughout my meal, he checked in on me and ensured that I was enjoying my experience at the restaurant.

As for the food, it was simply outstanding. Every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The flavors were rich and bold, and the ingredients were clearly fresh and of the highest quality. I particularly enjoyed the lamb kebab, which was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The mezze selection was also impressive, with a wide range of tasty dips and spreads to choose from.

The service was exceptional as well. My server was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made excellent recommendations for both food and drink.

Location•

Located right in the heart of taksim sqaure the heaven of foodies world wide ! Buses , taxis and trains near by so you can have easy access. Very easy to find.

Food•

Goes without saying but the food was incredible obviously! We had a mixed kebab and iskender, the flavours, the portion all the meat was moist & cooked to perfection ( chefs kiss ) I appreciate the amount of yoghurt and tomatoe sauce on my iskender as i love a lot of yoghurt !

Atmosphere •

The decor in the establishment was not amazing and nothing very fancy , it had more of a old school restaurant vibe. Overall nice atmosphere.

Service •

The service was very good, we got seated straight away & didnt take long before our order was taken with a lovely reccomendation by hour host waiter , who was very attentive & helpful. Staff look after you very well and do the small things that make you appreciate the service.
