If you’re visiting Istanbul from the US avoid this place at all costs. First of all most of what’s listed on the menu they are out of, or at least were when I visited on 3/9/25 Once the check came the real nightmare began. My sister offered to pay for our coffees her beer and one appetizer. (Around $38 USD). They ran her card and said it was denied, then tried again and again they said no. I gave them my card and I got an alert from capital one saying transaction approved. They said no it didn’t go through… foolishly my sister gave them a different card and they said ok it approved. She then checked her capital one and had 2 approved transactions.. so now we’ve paid them 3x on 3 cards. Suddenly their ability to communicate in English disappears. We finally got them to credit my sister initial capital one charge. Then I showed them my capital one statement said approved and pending… they seemed to understand so I thought and asked for my card to remove the charge. Instead they charged me again. I tried again to explain they have now charged me 2x and with this they handed me my card and walked away… I’ll let capital one handle it from here. This place is a dying tourist trap. A total scam. Not worth anyone time.. do not go into this...
Read moreA fabulous place which surprisingly is never crowded - I have been for coffee, drinks and even during dinner time. The establishment is the former railway restaurant of the station, and apart from the missing trains, you can get the full Orient Express nostalgia experience. Despite the distinctly high-end feel of the restaurant - uniformed, English speaking waiters and starched tablecloths - prices are surprisingly reasonable. You can get drinks and a full meal for less than 20 euros. Food and drinks are very good, no doubt about it, but the main attraction of the restaurant is of course the imaginary experience of waiting for your train to depart for Venice or Paris (plus cars for Dover and...

We payed 1500 Lira for a three course meal, and were therefore expecting atleast some quality.
The food was taken while people were still eating. The restaurant ushered us to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. The name "express" must come from how quickly you have to leave!! In the end we were there for a total of 45 minutes.
The portions were so small that we were still hungry after leaving. The quality of the food was the worst I have had during my whole stay in Istanbul.
At the end of the meal the servers just said "PAY" and nothing else, and said they only accepted cash. When we did not have cash they argued with us. Later the server came out with a bank terminal to the...
