Cafe Esmer Shef — Restaurant in Fatih

This place was highly recommended by a few friends that recently visited Istanbul. It was a very long way from the hotel but I'd do anything for good food. Located near the sea, it's a perfect spot for a meal.

I ordered the Donner kebab pizza (Iskender Kebap Pizza) and also a grilled chicken wrap (Wrap Izgara) to fill up any spaces left in my stomach. Being a lifelong fan of good quality donner, I wasn't disappointed. It bought back childhood memories of daily donner overdoses. If I was a superhero, my name would have been Donner-Man. The pizza was cooked really well, all the ingredients complimented each other beautifully. The chicken wrap was quite nice too for Turkish standards. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. When I went Istanbul my family and I ate at this place three times (within a week). The menu has a lot to offer so we tried different things every time we went. The pasta and pizza are the best I’ve tried. I’d recommend everyone to try the risotto and ravioli. The pizza was just perfect too. I’m quite fussy when it comes to food so finding a place like this in Istanbul was perfect. The atmosphere and ambience in the restaurant are great and the staff are very friendly and helpful too. The seating area is huge.. they have two floors and two outdoor areas. We went to the restaurant Esmer Chef today to have pasta, and there was a bit of chaos. First, we ordered a Coca-Cola Zero and an Ayran to drink, and then we placed our food order. The first dish arrived, but it was not what we had ordered. The waiter smiled, checked our order on his computer, and saw that he indeed brought the wrong dish. He immediately corrected it and brought us the right dishes we had ordered. We had to remind him again that we also ordered drinks.

He smiled again and brought us our drinks. However, the Coca-Cola wasn’t a Zero as requested. We pointed out the mistake, and with a smile, he brought the correct one.
