We had two very different experiences of this restaurant in our time in Cappadocia. We went on our first evening and had a few drinks there and enjoyed the amazing sunset views from their rooftop restaurant. Whilst the drinks were pricier than other places, the ambience was nice and our waiter even brought us over some free chips at one stage. So on our last night there we decided we would treat ourselves to a nice meal there. When we arrived they were really busy and we sat out on the terrace to wait, and our waiter was the same as the previous night. After 25 mins we were cold so decided to wait at the bar. After another 25 mins we were directed to a table for 4 people with an extra piece of wood tacked onto the end of it that did not have enough space for a plate (we were 5 people). However, we saw that the restaurant was starting to clear out and most of the tables were leaving we asked to change seats so the 5 of us could sit comfortably and we got a better table. However, our food order had still not been taken after over an hour and we had to ask 3 times to make the order. This is where it went bad. We were the only table left apart from one other table who arrived after us (so they were not busy at this stage). Two items arrived out 15 minutes before everything else. When the other mains arrived, of the 4 chicken skewers 2 of the were absolutely raw on the inside. We were disgusted. The 2 people who had the raw options said they didn't want another one brought out and that they'd just have the chips that were coming. The chips did not arrive after 15-20 mins so we asked again about them. Another 10 minutes passed so we walked up and said we didn't want them or anything else and we'd just like the bill and to leave. After 5 minutes the waiter came over with the chips and we said we had cancelled them and just wanted the bill. He just said 'Everything good?' as if we were surprised we were upset, and we told him that we were really shocked by being served raw chicken, that we had been waiting ages and that we just wanted to get the bill and go but that we expected them to really sort the bill out for us based on the experience. He walked away without any apology. My friend actually started crying as it was such an awful experience and it ruined what was otherwise such a perfect trip (and our last night too!). We had also been waiting so long and were so tired (and unfed!). One waitress came over then and said she would see what she could do. All she did was wipe the remaining food items off the bill but still charged us for our one round of drinks, which felt very poor form based on the experience and how we could have been so sick if we had not noticed how raw they were. We also said it was our last night and how this really ruined what had been such a great experience previously. Would not recommend this restaurant based on this. If they had properly dealt with the situation I could have understood that it was a once off but they way they treated us made me think they don't care/aren't shocked that...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience with the waiters there. First we come to this restaurant and some of us have difficulty climbing up the stairs so we ask for a table at the lower floor but they said only top floor is available to be serve. So they accompanied. Us to the top floor. Then we ordered our food and we asked the lady who took the order to make two separate checks ask we are two families and she said okay. But when we asked them to pay they brought us one bill with other waiter. So we told him that we had made it clear from the beginning that we asked for two separate checks. Instead of apologising he started to (buffing) making grumble sounds with a very un respectful way. And ask us which dishes should be in which bill. I told him we can’t remember the Turkish dishes name. But the waitress how took the order should know as we told her from the beginning. And I called her to segregate which is which. Sadly the lady told us she can’t make separate bills when printing. I told her (way you didn’t mention this at beginning. And I insisted to make two separate bills. Finally they did it as we want. And it was much better if they did it without arguing and Grumble un politely sound. I think the waiters there need a course how to deal politely with...
Read moreWe popped in for some dessert and tea with a view. We ordered 1 quince, 1 panna cotta, 1 baklava and 2 apple teas. The quince and panna cotta were disgusting. The quince was undercooked (so hard and sour instead of soft and sweet) and it was served cold which I have never experienced before. The panna cotta was far too gelatinous and lacked flavour. The baklava was decent. The apple tea was the usual but disappointing that it was served in an ordinary tea cup rather than the Turkish glass given this establishment is in one of the most iconic places in Turkey… In total this cost 506 lira.
Pros Central location with nice views and a terrace Aesthetic presentation of food
Cons Food is underwhelming and for some cases e.g. quince, not edible in my opinion Tries to be a high end, western style establishment and fails, instead is tacky Massively overpriced There was a group playing music loudly on their phones and generally destroying the ambiance which the staff entertained despite everyone else in the restaurant clearly looking at them...
