This is a solid “OK”. ||We are a family of 4 visiting Turkey for the first time. Picked this place based on price and photos and other reviews. Unfortunately, the rooms aren’t quite as nice as the photos lead you to believe. Despite this, my family and I felt the overall experience was decent. If I could do this all again, I’d pick the above ground, non-cave, standard rooms or pick a fancier hotel and pay a little more. More details below.||Pros: |* Convenient location. This hotel is on the heart of Gerome which is a city in the heart of the area known as Cappadocia. Gerome is like Disney World in the sense that in the last couple of decades, the town has been completely replaced with touristy stuff - fancy restaurants, coffee shops, rug shops, ice cream shops, hotels. All around you you can see the towering spires of the rock formations that the place is known for. It really looks like a movie set or a theme park, except that you know that the landscape is real and not a facade. Contrast this with the area between these towns, which are mostly agricultural and industrial. It is clear that the focus is very much on making these tourist destinations really stand out to attract visitors, and it doesn’t disappoint at all. |* Price: We paid USD 168 per night plus taxes, which is cheaper than other hotels which are USD 250-300 a night plus taxes for the same time.|* Included Breakfast: Was pretty good. There was enough seating for a full crowd. There were ladies in the kitchen area replenishing the food. There was a good selection of food including scrambled eggs, seasoned hard boiled eggs, olives, salad leaves, sautéed seasoned mushrooms, cold cuts, orange slices, milk and cereal, and cakes. The coffee was instant - no brewed or espresso machine.|* Was able to organize all our tours via WhatsApp well ahead of the trip paying a portion online and a portion in person, in cash/card. I recommend you DO NOT use GetYourGuide or Viator and instead book your tours through the hotels. All the hotels in the area are tightly tied in to all the tour operators and they can schedule whatever you want for you, making it less complicated for you. This whole place is a tourist machine and they are well oiled in that regard.|* The excursions were all fantastic and on point. My family really enjoyed everything we did. We enjoy sightseeing and being outside, and prefer natural landscapes to buildings, so the hikes and the tours really hit the spot. That said, the shorter “Red” tour, which focused on nearby attractions had a better lunch. The “Green” tour we did had a more “rustic” lunch break. But both tours were really informative and I suggest you do both. The hot air balloon ride was great on the first morning at sunrise. |* There are several places you can walk / hike to from the hotel between the days you have tours.|* Laundry service||Cons:|* The cave room is a novelty, and I am happy I picked this rather than the normal room if only so that we could say we stayed in a cave. Unfortunately, the stone ceiling constantly drops sandy debris on everything all the time. Think between the keys on your iPad keyboard, on your phone, on your bed, on your clothes, on the floor, etc. When you walk on the floor, you will track dust on your feet to the bed.|* Though technically a cave, our room was the same concept as basements are in the Midwest. The room is excavated from the ground that in this case is on a slight slope. It ends up being underground just like a basement. The only difference is the walls are stone and intentionally unfinished. The historical caves you’ll see in Cappadocia are excavated from the tall formations and are above ground level and have windows. This isn’t like those. I had to consciously avoid thinking that I was “in a basement” to enjoy the novelty of “staying in a cave”|* The room door uses a physical key (haven’t used those in 30 years at a hotel). |* The light outside the room turns off automatically when it does not detect movement for a few seconds, making it very difficult to get in and out of the room.|* The bathroom door does not lock (it physically jams and can’t close). It also has a few cracks in the wood. OK if your family does not mind it, but tough for some families that like privacy in the bathroom. |* The shower stall is ready to fall apart and super flimsy|* The stone “sofas” are hard and the cushions are ripped as others have noted and have not been fixed in ages, per other reviews. We ended up using them for storing our suitcases since they were not functional as sofas. My kids and us sat on the beds instead of the “sofas”.|* There is a fridge but it was unplugged. |* Room service comes only when you specifically ask for it. Normally you would expect they come unless you specifically ask them NOT to come. And they’re only available between a few hours in the day. This is because the cleaners have to travel by bus from surrounding areas. That’s more understandable once you know more about the background of how this town is setup for tourists.|* The air conditioner does not have a drain tube leading to the sink or outside the room. Instead it trained into a decorative jug in the room that overflowed in the night onto the floor around our suitcases.|* Laundry service takes the clothes at 4pm and returns them at 9 am the next morning. If you have to leave town before 9 am, or if you had laundry at 10 am you needed the next day, it wouldn’t work. Clothes were a bit damp when returned.||Traveler’s Tips for Cappadocia I wish I had known|* Everything is expensive. Think international airport prices. But it makes sense - they have to spend a lot to maintain a place like this.|* Most places accept credit card. Those that don’t accept Euros or USD per the conversion rate. Only a couple of shops asked for Liras in cash only.|* There was snow a week before we arrived and -5 F weather. While we were here late March, we had perfect spring weather. Check the annual weather before you book.|* You can’t get tap water at restaurants. You need to pay for bottled water which can be $2-3 USD for a very small bottle. I recommend buying a few large ones at a local grocery store if you can find one, or bring your own refillable ones and fill it at the reception.|* I found lots of coffee shops but none really stood out as amazing (with latte art or fantastic tasting beans - all were very standard). In the US I often find small local coffee shops with amazing coffee. Here they are so-so. Most places made a weak latte with one shot of espresso in a large, and it was all milk, no foam for equivalent of 8 USD. I should have bought my single serve pour overs and bought milk from a grocery or used the milk from the breakfast to brew my own coffee. No one seems to brew coffee in Turkey. It’s either Turkish coffee or espresso. I think brewing coffee is an American thing.|* The airport drop shuttle is 65 USD and will arrive just in time so you can make your flight, rather than the time you prefer to arrive at. For example, we prefer to get to domestic flights 2 hours before the flight. However, the shuttle times it so you reach 1 hour before the flight. Luckily, the Kayseri airport is super small, and seems to have only one flight operating out of it at a time. So it’s 5 min to get to the gate. But it still...

Me and my girlfriend stood here for 3 days, and we had time to take advantage of everything this hotel has to offer.
First of all, for the price, this option is decent, but nowhere near perfect.
Pros: Great views, very nice sceneries. -Nice atmosphere at the pool, nice place to hang around. -Friendly staff. Room was clean, and well arranged. -Good location.
Cons: Personal experience, we had mold in our bathroom, a considerable amount. Our sheets were not changed after the first day, only towels. Important Breakfast is not good at all, and this is not a personal opinion, all the other tourists ate in the majority only milk with cereals or fruits, because the other food was not fitting the breakfast, there were frozen french fries, and lots of Turkish style salads which were cold and had no taste. No omelette or ham, only simple boiled eggs. If you have the possibility to not choose breakfast, please do so for a better experience, there are plenty other options to choose from in the vicinity concerning breakfast. Rooms are small, but I would say relatively proportional to the price you are paying. It overall looks like a hotel which is kept under the lowest maintenance possible, just to survive day by day, it feel like no real effort is put in to improve services. -For one day we didn’t have hot water, and there is no door for the shower so if you are not careful you will make a mess.
Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again, I think for a vacation in cappadocia, airbnb is your friend, there are plenty other great locations at the same price with better services, or for a little more you can get something exponentially better. Nothing to say about the staff, as stated above, everyone was friendly and knew English, they helped us with everything we needed, the most disappointing factor was the breakfast, it’s just not good for a hotel, doesn’t have general food that everyone likes, and no one ate breakfast because of this. The second most disappointing factor was just the overall atmosphere, as stated above, it really looks like a hotel that is made to make money, not focused on the tourist, which is a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Cappadocia Caves Hotel and I must say, it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the unique beauty and charm of this one-of-a-kind hotel.
The location of the hotel is simply breathtaking. Nestled in the heart of Cappadocia, surrounded by towering rock formations and fairy chimneys, it truly feels like stepping into a fairytale. The views from the hotel are absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset when the colors of the sky reflect off the rock formations, creating a magical atmosphere.
The rooms at the Cappadocia Caves Hotel are unlike any other I have ever stayed in. Carved into the rock, they are cozy, comfortable, and exude a sense of tranquility. The attention to detail is impeccable, with traditional Turkish decor and modern amenities seamlessly blending together. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the en-suite bathroom was spacious and luxurious.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel's rooftop terrace. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious breakfast or a glass of wine while watching the hot air balloons float above. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every need was met and providing excellent recommendations for local attractions and restaurants.
The hotel also offers a range of activities and experiences to make the most of your stay in Cappadocia. From hot air balloon rides to horseback riding through the valleys, there is something for everyone. The hotel staff were more than happy to assist in organizing these activities, making the entire experience seamless and hassle-free.
Overall, my stay at the Cappadocia Caves Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of the unique cave rooms, breathtaking views, and exceptional service made it a truly unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cappadocia and looking for a truly...
