Hello, Last week, went to a restaurant called 'India Gate' in Cappadocia, Turkey as we were craving Indian food.
We tried Indian food in other restaurants in Cappadocia and were happy .
• The first thing we ordered was Masala Papad. It was served in a very disappointing manner, placed one on top of the other that too in a disposable plate. The vegetables were not fresh (onion, tomatoes, cucumbers) were chilled like straight from refrigerator - which is not acceptable. The presentation and everything was a big flop.
• We wanted to but did not dare to order green salad as we were not sure if what if the vegetables for the fresh green salad too refrigerated/ not freshly cut/stale.
• Next was Mix Veg Pakoda. Usually the mixed pakoras are assorted onion, potato, eggplant, cauliflower, paneer pakodas. This something else and is not an Indian style for sure . The eggplant Pakoda was drenched in oil and the other so called mix veg pakoda was a big lump consisting only of onion (against the claimed mixed vegetable) was undercooked and raw in the centre making it unpalatable.
• Paneer Lababdar okay but the portion size was quite small- in general and specifically in comparison to other Indian restaurants in Cappadocia.
Tandoori roti, naan and Rice were good. a
• The last disappointment was Dal Tadka - which should be rather be named as dal-haldi. It was overloaded with turmeric and emitting taste of raw haldi- The portion size was very small too.
The restaurant's PAKISTANI owner was kind enough to admit that the vegetables for masala papad were not freshly cut and also took the negative comments about the pakodas.
He was not ready to listen further when we were trying to mention about Dal and said it is one of his best sellers which can't be true aa far INDIAN DAL TADKA standard is considered. The name INDIA GATE for this restaurant is definitely not justified. It seems like it is named like an Indian restaurant just to pull more crowds for marketing purposes.
If any Indian or anyone who looking for authentic Indian food, this is not the right place. The food is not bad but definitely lacks INDIAN AUTHENTIC FLAVOUR AND...
