Food okay but very boring, blasphemous to claim that this is even remotely “fine dining”. Service very friendly, but almost certainly without any gastronomy training. The food: The bread: a cheap, probably frozen baguette without any spread or olive oil. There is better bread in your simplest local restaurant. Rucolla salad with fresh goat cheese and fermented beetroot slices: it tasted okay, but it was just okay, acid was way too dominant, very little walnut 4 very thin slices of beetroot with no taste, I would definitely use a different type of goat cheese, way too dominant. Eggplant rolls in marinara sauce: nice idea but so tasteless and simply boring, in Europe an apprentice with such a starter would fail the exam. It's very easy to make so much more out of this dish with simple ingredients. Cut the eggplant thicker, fry it dry, marinate it, then make the rolls. Mediterranean cuisine relies on herbs and fresh aromas, unfortunately there is absolutely no trace of it here 😢. Artichoke confit (where was the confit) also okay but again so boring, no play with flavors or textures, but with lots of fresh herbs. Main course Orzo risotto with shrimp and bisque: unfortunately the worst dish. Orzo probably overcooked when cooking, forgot the salt or rinsed with cold water after cooking, absolutely tasteless. Bisque is a classic of French cuisine, if you want to serve it, the chef should be completely sure how it is cooked, it was something but not bisque.
Perhaps our expectations were too high. Anyone who prides themselves on „fine dining“ simply has to bring more. Unfortunately this is the first restaurant in Kas that...
Read moreThis was hands down the best meal I've had in Turkiye. From start to finish, every dish was curated with attention to detail and most importantly did not suffer any losses by being vegan. We started with lavender fizzy water, which was a soft and delightful beverage with just the perfect amount of lavender and sweetness. We tried 3 different small dishes - the wild lentil paté, the tomato bulgur dish, and the porcini mushroom hummus. The paté was subtle in flavor and had lentils and onions on top that gave the dish a satisfying crunch. We wolfed down the tomato bulgur dish - it was a nourishing dish with a simple flavor profile that hit just right. The hummus was truly something special - I've never had a hummus like this before. The mushrooms were incredible, and I loved the "soup" that was in it. We ordered the only vegan entree on the menu - the celeriac schnitzel. We were worried when we first decided to order, as we had no idea what we were ordering... though once the drink and the first plate rolled out, we trusted that whatever it was, it would be delicious. And it certainly was. Not only was it delicious, it was so inventive! What's a celeriac schnitzel you ask? I have no idea. But what I do know is that there's a real wizard of a chef in that kitchen, and they take vegan dishes seriously. My only let down of the meal is that there was not a vegan dessert offered. I can't imagine how incredible the desserts must be. I'm very sad that I couldn't partake in that. My partner and I ended up walking over to vegan restaurant Pisekar for a dessert that did...
Read moreMezetaryen is a small restaurant, there are about 11 tables. It is a slow-food restaurants with real homemade mezes. We enjoyed the view of the harbour and the taste of our meal. It is a rare find in Kas, in the center with good views, cosy and surprisingly tasty food. Their variety was not just the normal meze (from the bucket or deep fryer) there are smoked fishes, red beet and walnut mousse and many more creative dishes. We highly recommend Mezetaryen for its fresh, nicely presented and delicious food. The prices on the menu we consider as adequate, if you want to have quality, it cannot be cheap. (Beware there is a 10% service charge on the bill). I rarely write reviews, but I consider Mezetaryen as a great...
